Just watched the vids. Guess it doesn’t function like OEM?

when in auto mode, they should fold when locked. Unfold when unlocked.

not sure about the jdm/oem p/n for the actual mirrors, but you'd need a VIN to research. i'm sure an oem switch from either RX, ES, or what ever lexus model that has the mirror button included will work.

so on vehicles that have this function, it can be set up in auto or manual mode. if the auto is selected, the mirrors will fold/unfold when locking/unlocking the vehicle. if the button is deselected, then the mirrors will stay out (unfolded). in the video posted, it looks like the mirrors moved upon applying accessories power; unsure if the actual button was pushed. if it was in auto, then the mirrors should've unfolded when unlocked regardless of acc power.

Ok I did some more investigating.. looks like the actual mirror mount is different the only way to swap out the mount is to basically cut the wires and solder them back together..

you can see the holes dont line up which means I cant use the original mirror outer cover that came with my car.. I can only use the covers that came on the mirrors I got from Japan, which I think is why the angle is off a little bit

Great work regardless. Pretty cool you got this done! Maybe a little time away to clear your head from it and you will be able to figure something out.

Nice write up! Thanks for being the first to do this!

I wonder if we can use the OEM RX window switch in lieu of the IS window switch. Looking at the switch the board looks almost identical.

I think you are correct.. I thought you might have been mistaken, but when I went back and looked at the switch of the 2023 IS500 Japan, I saw the switch indeed does have the auto fold button which would make what you said very likely. lol

it was from this post....

you my friend was correct. I figured it out.. I had to completely swap part of the internal portion of the mirror and then use the outer portion of the came with the car originally. the only thing is the driver side doesn't fold quite as far as the passenger, but Its not noticeable according to my wife. lol

This. Is. Amazing!!

As much as I hate not having folding mirrors, I’ll never do this on my own. My dad is a master electrician, Tony on the other hand…is not. 🤣 I’d end up with ‘extra’ screws and crossed wires.

Spoiler

Apparently not all cars have the mirrors fold the same distance for passenger and driver side. Not that there is much I can do about it anyway. lol.. at least I haven't figured anything out yet.

I would love to have this done to mine but I would have to hire this out. I'd likely screw something up cosmetically. I'm good with wiring and such but having to take the door panel off scares me. Do you know if you have to paint your new mirrors? Matching the iridium could be an issue...

It wasn't to difficult honestly.. You wouldn't need to paint the mirrors because you can swap the housings like I did.. If you buy them from Japan the angles will be off anyway and you will have to swap some of the insides of the mirror if you want to use your original housing that matches your car...

I got lucky they matched to start, but it didnt matter in the end cause I had to swap to my housings anyway in order to get the proper angles so I can see the entire lanes on the driver and passenger sides..

I hope that helps lol
