For those that went from a larger car (GS/LS/5 series/E class etc) to the IS500

How tall are you? I'm 5'10" and I did notice a bit tight on my right thigh. Now that you mention it, I'll pay more attention to the tunnel the next time I get in an IS500. Does the IS350 also have the same size transmission tunnel? I'm asking because my local dealer just sold the IS500 I was looking at and they only have the IS350 now.
Anyone else know?

The transmission tunnel does take some getting used to if you don't have a car with one. I went from an ES (fwd) to the IS and it was an adjustment. I'm 6'2 and fit just fine though. I dont feel cramped at all. There is more room in the ES and LS to manspread for sure.

As a fat 6' man who went from a Mazda 6 to the IS500 I haven't had any real issues. It's definitely tighter, mostly with the width I have available in the front seat compared to the Mazda but honestly I felt the Mazda was a little too wide and my arms never really rested on the arm rests very well without feeling like I was doing the funky chicken. I don't drive as much as you, but I've taken it on a few 3+ hour trips and haven't noticed any difference in the comfort level. Rear seat space really seems to be what I sacrificed and I would hate to be an adult sitting behind a tall driver, but losing 6 inches in the total length of the car was nice as it's much easier to get around it in the garage now.

For me, the "extra space" at the pedals is a breath of fresh air. In my previous IS's that were both AWD, there was a huge bulge protruding into the driver's side to accommodate the all-wheel drive transmission. Whilst this of course didn't impede your ability to reach or comfortably operate the gas pedal, it was a bit of an annoyance, and very noticeable to a new person driving the car for the first time. Of course, for myself having these IS's for more than a decade, I got fully used to the "bulge". Now of course I am getting used to the new "bulge" in the hood up front. LOL.

I have an LS460 and a 2024 IS500. As far as pure comfort nothing can compare to the LS but you will sacrifice some of the fun factor. The IS is very fun to drive and listening to the V8 engine is much more enjoyable than listening to the radio, especially the news in an election year! Unlike an M3 or AMG the IS can be a very civilized daily driver that will not beat you up on long trips. Yes it is a compact luxury car but as long as you're in the front seat it is fine, if you transport large people in the rear I would keep the ride short. I can easily fit two sets of golf clubs plus luggage in the trunk. If your buying the car Lexus will give you fewer issues if any especially when the warranty runs out and will hold its resale value much better, and since it is the last of the V8's I think that will be another positive for resale value. I personally think the IS design, while not new is truly a timeless beauty in its class in any color combo, which of course is subjective.
