This part of the video is a good demonstration of what I meant when I said the m340i is a lot louder than our IS500. See 11:30.
That BMW has an AWE exhaust.

IMO the stock exhaust is definitely on the quiet side and does not have a good tone under 4k RPM. For me personally, the exhaust tone you get once you add an Apexi resonated mid-pipe is what it should've sounded like from the factory.

Totally agree... Lexus longevity will outshine BMW, Mercedes and many others. Dollar for dollar you get much more from Lexus.

I’ll never understand why anyone who works in front of a computer screen would then want to stare at 2-3 more massive screens in their sports sedan while driving to/from work.

It’d be great it if we just went back to physical gauges, ***** & switches, finally acknowledging our smartphones work more than adequately for any digital related tasks needed while driving … and our cars won’t look like digital dinosaurs after 10 years.

When I owned my F30 3 series I actually liked that the interior was considered "dated", the easy on the eyes amber and simplicity of the layout. If it's going to be digital I'd have preferred the pre LCI look to the LCI for the G20s.

Even our 2023 X3 retains the nice orangey glow to the buttons at night. I think it's one of the last cars BMW sells - the other one being the Z4 - that still has the older-style interior anymore.

Compare that with an X1 we had as a loaner car. lol

Completely agree, and this is what I hate about cars becoming rolling computers. I like to drive as an escape from screens, computers, messaging, and electronics... what you see Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes doing in their interiors is what I HATE.

No doubt there is benefit in things like Waze and Carplay, but I'd like a ~10" for that and nothing else. And not to mention that the implementation of screens can make or break the experience as well. BMW and Mercedes' implementation of them is horrible IMO.

I really like the old 1-8 buttons on a BMW. It just makes sense when you're changing radio stations. I hate having to press the steering wheel button to scroll through all my stations. I think that's the 1st button on my car that will break.

Loved how Audi and the first IS300 had pop up infotainment screens. Great way to hide what you rarely actually need. Oddly Bentley has done it recently too, so now it’s oddly a luxury to not have to look at screens.

Well, guess what, the IS500 also has crappy summer bridgestones. So, let's put things on an equal playing field and put proper tires on both cars.

The M340i lapped faster than the IS500.

Since it was only a one-second difference, I'd be willing to bet that if both cars were on equal tires, the IS 500 would be even with it. I think we all know the Bridgestones are not great - on top of that, the M340i had PS4S tires, which are known to be some of the best road tires. A one-second difference over a three-minute lap isn't that big of a deal like it would be on a minute-and-a-half lap. At least, I'd like to think so.

Honestly, reviewing the footage again, the most obvious problem with the IS 500 is that the front tires are complaining throughout the entire lap. The M340i does not have this problem, and this is probably because it has the PS4Ses along with having a better weight balance. However, in spite of this, the IS 500 does manage to achieve the same or better speeds on the straights thanks to having more power - even across the starting line, both cars seemed to be around 135 to 136 MPH at the end of their laps. And of course, the IS 500 had a couple of sideways moments, which the M340i did not, both of which likely cost about 0.25-0.5 seconds each.
