I just made a second $500 deposit at a different dealership. #15 there. It’s getting real.

edit: I’m #1 at a smaller dealership. I was very impressed by the other dealership today (they gave us free lunch at their restaurant - yes, a fancy restaurant on the third floor of a Lexus dealership) so I couldn’t resist.

…Lexus of Esco? 🤔 In my opinion that one is pretty big. That’s where I have my deposit, I think I’m #7. You got free food? I want some.

Yessir. I had a chance to be #8 right behind you a couple months ago but I kept dilly dallying. Super impressive dealership. Like a hotel and casino. I saw a sign that they even do weddings there. What dealership hosts/caters weddings??? Apparently Lexus. People say Longo is the biggest but I beg to differ. I also got a hardcopy of the IS500 brochure (LOL), and some information on the paint and leather protection package. Apparently it's $1395 and that includes a ceramic film on the entire car, as well as leather protection against stains, ink, food, pets, etc. That's a great deal right? The company is called GlassCoat by Simoniz.

Here are the instructions for the free $40 to their restaurant. Just text your salesperson that you want to do this and they'll set it up for you. They only asked for my VIN and mileage and emailed me their offer (basically KBB value). Here's a pic of what we ate. The total bill came out to $4 for all this food and I'm still full!

That’s awesome, thank you. I’ll have to ask my salesman which place # in line I am.

Is the ceramic film the same as actual PPF? If it’s like Xpel PPF, then I would definitely do it.

Don't know. Ill have to do a lot more research to know if this is a good thing to do or not. Generally add-ons are a waste of money, there's gotta be some catch I'm missing.

Ceramic coating is not a physical protection layer like PPF is. Usually PPF is applied first (physical film), then ceramic coating is applied on top.

here guys:

Edit: Video shows it's not an actual film. Haha, ok so it's a waste of $$. I would not pay $1400 for some spray.

So yea, basically, "ceramic" coating. Not a physical film.

Makes sense, alright. So on the accessory options, looks like you can select the 3M film for the hood and such for $495 (I’m looking at the IS350 website build). That seems like a good deal if it’s good quality film that won’t yellow out like our modern day PPF.

Agree lol. But I inferred that she was making the trip to Long Beach for something car-related, and since RoadShow is a legit youtube channel I think this was a preview for a proper video (probably hosted by someone else).
At this point I'll take any IS500 videos I can get. I mean, I have 2 deposits down. I'm starving for some IS500!!!

Asked 4 dealerships around me, one not even taking deposits, one asked for 3k, one wanted me to discuss with the sales manager and one said taking deposits but the person seems to know nothing....
