I'd like to wait; I've had money down for a while. However, having to rely on a car salesman's video for potential production/inventory information is ridiculous.

Bonuses come out in March so I'm ok waiting too. As long as I can get this car new before Gavin Newsome bans sales of all gasoline cars by 2030, I'm good.

I hear what you are saying but the regular 2022 IS is equally affected, not just the 500. This issue is affecting everyone and while it sucks, we rode the chip shortage longer than most other brands.

Maybe the delay is because they have someone in the parts room painting all the transmission cooler black lmao

How can people be in the business of making car videos and not research more about what they are talking about. Again it reaffirms what I have been saying all along, you don't watch car reviews to learn about the car, they are clueless....I just like to watch for video and audio effects. Full stop!

Now here is a new update from Jake - At least this guy is from Lexus dealer and credible:

That IS is the only 22' in the system for the entire county, which is a good sign however its scheduled to go on production 8/16/21. It has not gone in production yet.

That, and before gas prices hit $6/gallon or lot, lot more. Slightly off topic here - but there is no investment in oil exploration. International banks are not funding oil projects . All oil and gas supermajors are investing in expensive green technologies, yet demand for oil continues to climb. Demand for soccer mom SUVs and pickups continues to soar. Aviation sector is rebounding strong. Electric cars are still too expensive for the masses. Can probably expect the price of oil to soar in the next 5 years . There is already evidence of an oil shortage and a crisis coming. Great article in the Economist on this . Let's hope this doesn't happen but all indications point this way . And here in Canada our again elected Trudeau is ramping up the carbon taxes. We will be paying a fortune for gas soon.

I think I'll keep my 21 IS350 and go out with a bang and buy an LC500 before it's too late . LOL .

Just got word from my contact from Lexus of Pleasanton today 10/14...

"Unfortunately, no (word on getting the IS500). The IS is currently out of production."

Maybe they stop making the IS forever due to this parts shortage and y'all who got the 2021 IS350 end up with super rare cars, and see them skyrocket in value to $1 million. GaryJG would have a heart attack.

Truthfully what I think is screwing us over big time is that the new NX is also coming out of Tahara Production Line 3. And they are pushing that car hard to bring attention to the brand. I’ve already seen videos of production having started on the new NX. Unfortunately it seems to be screwing over the IS and the RC. If I had to guess, they are probably trying to stockpile a bunch of NX’s before the Canada plant begins making NX, and then they’ll swap over to IS and RC.

https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/co.../36192173.html

Toyota’s November schedule was just released. There are no expected shutdowns for Tahara Line 3. So we are set to get some cars, hopefully. They expect to produce the same amount in November 2021 as in November 2020. So if this holds up, the last day of a shutdown, is today.

Small update. Lexus Canada just put up the build configurator for the NX a couple of minutes ago. So I’m feeling optimistic of us getting a building configurator for the IS at least on the Canadian website soon. Fingers crossed.
