Don't forget, he's in Canada. And you seem like dealers have taken a toll on you. So much pessimism. Let's be a bit optimistic!

The dealership I'm in line at also told me they're getting 2 cars in, this was back in July. Now they're saying they don't know how many are allocated. When did you last ask them about the allocation? If it's been a couple months you should ask again. No IS's have been produced by Lexus for 90 days.
You are indeed correct - I am in the land of maple syrup and Tim Horton eh?!

It was in September when the dealer called me and we did touch base toward the end of the month of September and nothing had changed - allocation had remained the same but no update on when production would begin. I will touch base with him and report back here once I hear anything

I just texted Jake from the Lexus videos. He says he checked this morning and there are no allocations for NX or IS as of this morning, regardless of trim/options.

As it was explained to me, the purpose of placing an order in Canada to get your name on an allotment list. They're only expecting a maximum of 50 LEs in Canada, and allegedly Lexus Canada simply has a list that they go down for cars like the LE.

^^ You raise a good point, I am French speaking so maybe this is a subtle difference between an allotment and allocation. I am not sure I know the exact difference but I have left a message and hope to hear back as he is on leave today

Here’s the jist - on Friday all I was told is “GM says we can order your configuration” (again - Grecian water, black nuluxe, premium package) AND “we expect to get them before the end of the year”
I KNEW the EOY part was BS but was interested in the “we can order this for you” part.
So I texted my dealer back and basically got exactly what everyone here is saying:
“As soon as I hear any news about the IS500 pricing, allocation, etc. I go through my book and contact all my customers. You can certainly hit me up if you have any questions in between but I am really good about keeping my customers updated when new information comes out”
So yeah looks like we’re all in the same boat!

I have to admit that I am a bit appalled that Lexus USA or Lexus Canada (which are the only 2 countries getting the IS500) can't seem to be able to get some sort of information about this upcoming model leaving such chaos among enthusiasts and potential customers. I understand there are some variables and such but they announced this car in February and we still don't have an official configurator on the 2022 IS. The new NX has already been more love on their website. If Lexus isn't able to produce the IS or prefers to prioritize its global models or bigger sellers while there is a chip shortage, they should just inform their dealer they are suspending the production of the 2022 with a return to the MY 2023. That being said, if they are planning on doing something, they should start publishing some information....They may build amazing vehicle but their marketing (PR) department sucks big time! We are not asking for leaks about an unannounced model....The cat has been out of the bag for numerous months, they lifted the embargo on the vehicle and such.
