even if it currently has flake, it still looks plain white.

Thank you. If you have to get 6" up close to see the flake, I'm still not interested.

You and me both.

I think ultrasonic blue will still be my #1 choice but I'll still ask my dealers to see a 2022 IS500 in ultra white. If Lexus did change the formula for ultra white by making it more metallic, the acid test for me will be to see whether the pearlesenceis observable from afar like eminent white pearl.

The redesigned 2021+ IS is all about sharp and soft curves which must be shown off. The (old) ultra white just doesn't do the car justice. Sorry UW fans.
Ultra White (083) on 3IS always had pearl in it, it's a tricoat paint. My 2015 and 2018 IS350 were Ultra White and both had pearl, I even ordered some paint for my front lips and it was a tricoat paint system.

I like the infrared for the IS500. Just think it makes it look very bad a$$. Red doesn't work well with most Lexus vehicles, but I think it works well with the IS given the sporty and aggressive stance. Also, infrared will be very exclusive. I live in the greater Toronto area and whilst I have seen many 21 IS models all over the place, I have yet to see an infrared. My current 21 IS350 is Cloudburst grey , which is OK. Gives the car a more luxurious gleam, but it is a common and conservative colour . If I ever do pull the trigger on the 500, I think I'll go infrared. But who knows when they will come in. Here in Toronto, we have some of the highest volume Lexus dealerships in Canada, and yet they are all clueless on any ETA. They also don't really care to be honest - it's all about pumping out sales of RX's and NX's , which makes sense .

But in my opinion, the IS is such as an attractive looking car that you can't really go wrong with whatever colour you chose. I don't think there is any colour combo where you say "oh wow, it really looks ugly in that colour". It looks great in every colour. A real testament on how Lexus got the styling just right for the IS.

I agree, you cant go wrong with any colors for the IS, the design is well done but it's also a testament to Lexus for offering tasteful colors.

On the topic of colors, I am getting annoyed by the trend to have to pay a premium for a color that isn't really that premium. Every car companies now do it and irritates me to no end...are we gonna get charged extras for wipers and crap like that next. When acura offered their special red, I could see that, but ultra white has been offered forever and why is it now a premium paint! @#%##$@

Cost of manufacturing of paint is not cheap, especially with the materials needed to make that particular paint. Making a single stage white is a lot cheaper than creating a three stage pearl white or a four stage paint like Infrared. The most expensive Lexus paint to make is Structural Blue.

Also, being that no airbags went off, this car will be repaired and up for sale in the used market in the next 6 months.....make sure you don't get this one!!

Prototype cars which these IS 500 F SPORT Performance press cars are cannot be sold as they are prototypes. It will either end up as a crusher or a development/training vehicle that will be donated to a trade school or kept internally.

I hear ya but at the same time, you would think it would be factored into the msrp! If you make pretty much every color a premium price, then just adjust the price accordingly...my opinion of course

Well..... I saw the IS500 boys and girls, and my oh my. Quite the beauty. Especially in Infrared. It is just stunning. A couple of my observations:
1. No sunroof, memory seats, or rear sunshade on this car. Quite odd since supposedly the memory seats and sunroof are standard on all of them.
2. Those Enkei wheels are just..... wow. Gorgeous. Trust me, I love the BBS wheels, but these Enkei are just so exquisite. I'd hate to clean them though lol.
3. The exhaust system is gorgeous. In images I thought the tips looked quite small, but no no. They did a perfect job.
4. The black window surround; in images I thought it was a black chrome kind of like what Genesis does. It is not. it is basically black as you can see in the images. On my IS350 I will try to buy the IS500 window surround as my way of blacking it out while still keeping it OEM.

Gorgeous car folks. If you get the chance to see it, please do. I'm glad they had it in Infrared and not Nardo G... I mean Incognito.

Some treat for you guys. These were taken back in June when these cars first arrived. They are not part of the dealers inventory so…

DO NOT contact the dealer about these.
