I always laugh when people say they don't want a sunroof on a luxury sporty sedan, to save weight. Really? The whole thing weighs what? maybe 30 - 40lbs? Yes, it's top weight vs bottom weight but you think you'll notice a difference on a vehicle that's already close to 4,000 lbs? That is 0.01% of the weight of the car. Why don't you also take out the stereo and all speakers, the AC, all power windows, heavy comfortable seats, and even replace your nicely padded door handles with straps like a M CSL car .

^^ LMAO - I agree - Answer was just being sarcastic and not being serious. I agree with you, that statement makes zero sense to me. I would remove all the nanny stuff and sensors to reduce the weight. I can't even lose weight as I am already way too slim! I think if I lose 5 lbs, my air bag sensor on my car won't get activated (lol)

I am worried that with the 360 degree feature, that feature is not visible when only using the rear view camera - Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance...This will be useful to know before my IS500 arrives because that will now be a standard feature on our Canadian spec'd IS500
Not sure if this is still current since we've been waiting for like 84 years.

Perfect!! This video that you shared gives the example with the RX showing the backup camera (with the 360 view to the right) with that little center line (guide) present like on my IS350! That little line is VERY useful to me given my very tight parking maneuvering over my lift and that is exactly what I was hoping was going to be....So thanks for sharing It gives me hope the IS500 will have that as well....

You got that right! I'd love one, but it's not a show stopper.

Here’s exactly what you see on a 2021+ with the larger screen and Panoramic. Just took this in my 2021 IS350.

Yep. Always laughed when M3 guys used to drool over no sunroofs. To me not having a sunroof when you have the option to get one is a clear and absolute downgrade and downright embarrassing. In their minds, they think their lack of sunroof just helped them win LeMans by 0.01s, but in reality, they'll never gain any meaningful benefit from lack of a sunroof. Their cars will just feel and look cheap and featureless.

To me, a sunroof is the premium feature and should be praised and sought after. My car should be full featured and serve me with comforts and conveniences. No delusions about a 3,800lb car being a "race" car. Lets. Get. Real. LOL

Kinda having second thoughts on the IS500 with the wait time and current fuel prices. Thinking of just getting a IS350 F Sport with DHP. But then after all is said its only like $3000 difference......

As much as I comment on the IS500, thats exactly what I did. My dealer placed my order for a fully loaded IS350 with all the packages and options, and the carpet mats and illuminated door sills and it came out to $56,210. I'm aware that I could get an IS500 base for only $1000-$2000 more, or a Premium IS500 for $7000-$8000 more, but that's only the initial part. I then got to thinking about cost of ownership and thats what made it clear for me.
The IS500 will:
- Require more gas, especially with how I would be driving it
- Require more expensive oil changes at 5000 miles instead of the 10000 miles on the IS350 (I will probably do it at 5000 anyways since im gonna care for this car more than I do for my girlfriend)
- Probably have higher insurance premiums
- 2 Piece Rotors are expensive when the time comes for a brake job

I decided that a V6 IS350 is more than enough for me especially since I'm coming from a 2016 Toyota Corolla Special Edition with 132HP and a 0-60 time of "Eventually". I will say however, you will have very similar wait time on an IS350, so if you're making the change in hopes of getting it sooner, I wouldn't count on it.

This is very true. And, it's part of the reason the IS500 was so interesting to me. Imagine having an RC F instead - now you've got even wider tires and more aggressive brakes. The IS500 is somewhere between a 350 and a "true" F car. However, at the end of the day, it's still going to drink more fuel, require more spark plugs and more oil changes, and let's be honest - probably endure more aggressive driving. It will add up. Whether it's worth it or not depends on the driver!

I hadn't even thought about the increased potential for speeding tickets, but it's very true.

getting the 500 over the 350 is all about exclusivity and bragging rights and not much else. I can’t wait for ppl to tell me I must be compensating, to which I’ll say “heck yeah I’m compensating, compensating for your smolll engine”
