So none of you guys are worry about $4.40 Premium gas especially in Bay Area. If IS500 is my daily driver I will have to fill up every week that’s about $60 per fill up. I guess we have to pay to play.

Right now we're about $4.87 a gallon for Premium (if I do the conversion from litres to gallons and then CAD to USD).
^^ I know, the joy of being Canadian, and imagine what it will be with proposed Carbon Tax proposals up to 2030....I suspect that gas will be about 2.25$ a litre by then just due to the tax. They are determined to kill the gasoline engine in this country
My saving grace is that I only put about 5000km per year on my toy so even if it costs me lots to drive it, the overall financial damage will be limited

I just filled up my minivan with regular and cost me over $80. My IS350 used to cost me over $250 a month to fill when I was commuting regularly. I figure the IS500 would be slightly more due to the V8 so its pay to play. The only other alternative is an EV as operating costs are much cheaper but then you have to be in the right situation to own one. Counterpoint though is that the IS350 isn't all that fuel efficient either so maybe the IS500 is only incrementally more

Considering the price point of the car, it's definitely pay to play.
As a California native, i'm happy to live in Texas now. $3.09/gal for real 93 octane premium is fantastic. No more watered down CARB taxed 91 octane premium for my Lexus'.

Was thinking the same thing. my IS350 gets bad mileage in city driving 16 mpg and I'm not even flooring but on highway sometime on a good day I can get 29 mpg. I guess V8 on highway will be slightly worse but city mpg will be brutal.

Lol consider yourself lucky...I’m in Canada, I just got gas last night...$1.48 per litre for 91...that’s like $5.60 a gallon...Plus the dollar is so weak I’m expecting the is500 to be around $70k here...we also pay 13% sales tax which I think is around double most US states

If you do all the conversions, $5.60 CAD is about $4.49 USD a gallon, which is almost the same as the Bay area.
I'm at $1.60/litre by me...for 91 Premium. I don't even want to know what 94 octane is at those few stations that have it.
Thats one of the reasons why performance EVs get a lot of credit...instant response. I think the IS500 though will be much better than the turbo 6 cylinders in that respect as NA responds so much better to throttle...turbos always have a little lag especially when you are cruising in overdrive gear and have to shift down.
Also, you said you got used to 3.5s to 60. Unfortunately, you may also feel other cars just feel slow after you get used to it. Always gotta go faster right
EV vehicles have the 0-60 speeds... Nio EP9 does it in 2.7 sec

Which will be a kinda slow compared to that new Model S Plaid at 1.9s. It's also easy to achieve those speeds as you just mash the throttle. My grandma could get the perfect 0-60 in the car.
The instant response basically make EVs the fastest road cars but some enthusiasts find them too robotic which is fine. It's not for everybody. It certainly doesn't make the nice noises the new Is500 will make.

Sorry, I would NOT put myself or my family in Made in China (by Chinese companies) vehicles or airplanes because my (and my family) life matters!
"Chinese automakers have tried to enter the U.S. market before and failed, crippled by sub-par quality, failure to meet tough U.S. safety standards, lack of consumer awareness and ill-conceived import partnerships." - LA Times
I buy a Lexus because it will last me a long time and perform like brand new 10 years, 100k miles later. Can't really say the same for many other performance cars without having to spend a small fortune to keep it up.
This exactly. It's pretty much the keystone to the comparison to me and many others.
People shop for a 100k+ mileage IS everyday. Who is out there doing that for other German sport cars? Not many. Only the guy who's got $$$$ set aside to rebuild the car for a project, or wants that badge to add to his collection and it's for the garage.
