The V8 is back: IS 500 F SPORT Performance

I've been seriously looking at getting the IS 500 and finally contacted my local dealership. They said their LE allocation has been accounted for but I'd be the first on their list for a 2022 non-LE if I put a deposit down. Question for the more experienced, how much is generally a deposit like that and is it usually refundable? In addition, they've got a 5k "market adjustment" on the car. Is that normal?

look for a different dealership if you can. My dealer charged a $1k USD fully refundable deposit and said their policy is that they don’t mark up any vehicles.

Finally some good news. Production goes back to normal in December as well. Let’s crank out these cars.

^^ Thanks for sharing some good news!!! I was out cruising around the various car dealerships in my town yesterday and I just can't get over how there is virtually zero inventory everywhere!! The Chev/GM dealer had 1 vehicle each, Toyota had 4, Subaru had 6 and Ford about 5 as well. Honda had about 20-25 Civics but no other models at all...No pilots, no HR-V, no CR-V, no Accord!! It is almost spooky!

Lmao!! Oh that Seinfeld analogy was well played!! I am still hopeful, given TipsyTonio assembly line inside scoop, that the tranny cooler will be painted, but as others have said, it can easily be solved on my own

This is probably why one of the dealers I had spoken to texted me yesterday to ask if I wanted to put a security deposit on incoming IS500's. I asked how much. He said- $5k. I asked him if they will sell without any mark-ups .... no reply .
There is another dealer who's list I am on. They do no mark-ups and no dealer fees. But they are not yet taking deposits. I am #33 on their list though. I think their list is so crazy because it's non-comital.

Money definitely talks, as does actually placing an order. As I understand it, if the customer places an order, the car as ordered is marked for that customer, meaning if the customer cancels the order, the car doesn't go to the dealership for sale to someone else. When I placed a deposit and an order, my dealership made it clear that if I didn't want the car, they would really appreciate it if I didn't cancel the order so they can still get the LE and sell it to someone else.
