^^ Lexus Canada is offering 3.9% on a 60 month finance but they offer a 1.5% reduction for loyal Lexus customers so 2.4% - IN Canada, a non LE IS500 with all taxes and fees is ~87 000$
Interesting fact:
At 0%, 60 months would be 1450$/month
At 2.4%, 60 months would be 1540$/month (90$ extra/month)
At 3.9%, 60 months would be 1598$/month(148$ extra/month)
Over 60 months, the 2.4% rate would be a cost of 5400$ in interest while at 3.9%, a customer would pay 8880$ in interest over 60 months.

I don't get the idea of buying a fairly plain car in the hopes it will become a collectible. If this was a very small production Ferrari or Aston Martin, I'd understand but even then, you'd buy the car and store it. You'd have to do the same with the IS500; buy it and then not drive it. That's like not having sex with your wife so her next husband has more peace of mind.

I agree tough, it shouldn't be treated as a car that will go up in value but I think this car will maintain a somewhat good resale value.

The question is how long the production run will be. My guess is 2-3 years max, till the engine can’t pass emission anymore. + I dont think they will update it. I guess will see. I understand the logic behind (last MY more desirable in the long run), but I’m not sure if it will be the case here

My prediction is that they will have the MY 2022, 2023 and 2024....Given the current generation IS350 came out as the MY2021, 4 years is likely the most (with the IS500 as 3 years) and the new generation of the IS will come out in 2024 as a 2025 MY - that is my prediction for what it's worth and matches yours of 3 years too

I think new model years might come with wireless charger, HUD, maybe wireless android auto/apple carplay? Plus probably some tweaks to suspension, and probably will finally address the FCA being too soft.

I really doubt there will any substantial changes while the car has a naturally aspirated V8. If Lexus hasn't addressed the FCA, I can't see them doing it in the middle of a car cycle. I suspect those changes will be made at the same the car is redesigned and the V8 goes bye bye.

I agree that getting a late model IS500 will get you a better car, but "the best value?" I dont know. Allow me to poke some holes in your logic using the GS F as an example.
A 2020 GS F is better than a 2016 for sure. But you also pay a lot more for 2020 GS Fs currently. It's not like they're the same price or even close all else being equal. You're going to have to wait another 4 years to get it as the same price as today's 2016 GS F. Remember we're talking about the GS F here. Let's plug this analogy back into the IS500. Say it has a 4 year production run, the 2025 IS500 being the "best" IS500 ever produced. At that time, let's say used 2022 models are conservatively re-selling for ~$45,000. You're going to have to wait until 2028 to get a 2025 IS500 model for $45,000. That's 7 years from now, to save what, about $20,000? Are you sure you're willing to do that?

Besides the V8 sedan, there is another goal of "getting the last and best affordable V8 SUV in human history" but looks like it will span for a slightly longer time. So finally there will be a collectable V8 sedan and also a V8 SUV.

For LE, it may be, or may be not, I do not know. But for me, a car's collectability is determined by a combination of factors such as mechanical features, quality, and rarity.
To best spend my money, I think the strategy to buy a "cheap" V8, and then wait and buy a "nice" V8 is the optimum: for the same money, you end up with 2 V8 cars, instead of one.
All my above points won't make sense before the emerging of EVs and previously, cars are primarily to be driven. But now this is a totally different story, you definitely need to keep a V8 if you really like how the V8 delivery power, which is different than any EVs. The V8/10/12 are being killed not because they are technically inferior, but for political reasons.

Some good points, thus the reason I ordered a new Lambo this week. Towards the end of their life cycles and the na motor going away is scary. Now, just to wait 8-14 months for delivery....be lucky you guys are waiting a few months only. Lol.
