I had the opportunity to drop by the LA auto show today to check out the is500 and one of the Lexus reps mentioned that the premium and base model will be an unlimited run next year while the launch edition will be limited to only 500. Seeing how Toyota reportedly beat the chip shortage and is expected to pump out 800,000 cars next month alone is positive news.
The Lexus rep also threw in that Lexus N.A. REALLY wanted to throw the enthusiast an ISF, but Akio Toyoda denied their request hinting an ISF is already in the works for the next IS lineup.

I am just encouraged to see that the chip situation seems to be stabilizing and that they are ramping up production of the vehicles. I know it will take a while to get catch up with the backlog and such but I am still hopeful I can put my hand on one by next summer. I decided to not proceed with the LE, too many compromise I feel I would be making and while I know it would be limited and unique, I am too biased toward a while vehicle and personally, black wheels will always be something that will bother me. I would rather wait and get exactly what I want rather than compromising just to get the 1st one that comes available.

^^ I've been having the same thoughts, I badly want one, but not to the point of it not being what I want or what I like.
The LE is nice, but I'll already feel bad about driving a 500 in the snow, I feel like I could not do that to an LE.
The previous comments from the LA auto show rep is indeed encouraging.

^^ I agree - I am pretty sure my dealer will come through, he has been communication with the regional reps and such and they know I want a white one so I have time on my side in that I don't need it before the spring/summer so that gives them time to get one in white being built and allocated to you and I. If he gets one sooner, he told me not to worry and they'll make sure to get it there and stored somewhere safe until we are ready for the spring or have it shipped to my house to it won't nee to drive in the snow/dirty roads. SO now, I am just going to relax, put my trust in them and just wait for a white one (in white or black interior) to be built and shipped to them.
On a side note, waking up to about 10cm of snow (or 4 inches) is not good for the moral - I am already sick of winter!

Don't get me wrong, I think the LE will be a nice looking car but I am way to OCD and white is always my go too, but I would say the biggest reason I am passing on the LE is the BBS wheels. I just can't seem to get warmed up enough to them so paying that much for a car, even more for the LE, and not loving EVERYTHING about it will be something that I think will bother me. While I didn't think I was going to like the Enkei wheels on a white car, seeing it on the configurator and even on the Iridium car at the car show (on youtube) shows that these wheels do work on a lighter colored car. They will still be a PITA to clean because the pattern is too tight to put my hand and wash the inner portion of the rim but I will get a cleaner on a wand (brush) to get to it. The other thing is I do have a hydraulic lift in my garage so I can just lift the car and just wash the inner portion by going under the car...
Carolina - Are you still hoping to get GW or which color are you trying to get?

Talked to them yesterday and that isn't what I was told. But the whole communication thing isn't anything that will win any awards. So if it has ended I'll go with another.
