agreed. Here’s to hoping that this only applies to the Toyota brand and it doesn’t pass on down to Lexus. I remember watching a video years ago where they said their QC was so stringent that if they noticed a defect in some wood panel, they would replace all wood elements in the car, not just the specific panel, since it would be nearly impossible to get the same grain and color as it wasn’t from the same tree.

Agreed, but I think the issue is that no matter how good your quality control is, there are still some functional defects that will be introduced.
With the lowering of standards this will make more slip by even if the part looks acceptable on the surface.
I'm hoping it's not too bad, and I can get an extended warranty from the dealer. I bet other brands are doing this too but just not announcing it.
On a similar note, I have seen some dealers offer free lifetime power train warranty and no markup over MSRP.
That is simply fantastic.

i dont think the quality would suffer anywhere near what these other luxury autos will.

Spoken like a true Malibu driver…
in all seriousness, it doesn’t matter. Had I been willing to compromise on the quality of any component, I would’ve stuck with a Toyota model. But I chose to pay a premium to get luxury vehicle from a brand with the reputation of being of the utmost quality. Making these sort of changes without informing the consumer could arguably be considered bait and switch. But I digress, each buyer has their own opinion and I respect yours, but I’m genuinely curious what they are referring to in terms of the compromise.

Almost had a flash back of the Johnny Cash song - "One piece at a time"

Where is NWN? That would make sense that these are going to be the LE arriving to Canada in early Jan - a late dec port arrival and then shipping across the country....I don't think these ships come to eastern canada but I could be wrong
