Just a heads up reminder the VIN numbers are not going to change by increments of 1..

So far the first 8 all seem to be: JTH UP1D2 (special edition trim LE)

MANUFACTURING COUNTRY
J = Japan
WORLD MANUFACTURER
T = Toyota
VEHICLE TYPE
H= Passenger Vehicle

BODY TYPE/DRIVE TYPE
U = 4 Door Sedan 2WD / special edition ?
ENGINE CODE
P = 2UR-GSE 5.0L V8
SERIES/GRADE
1 = USE30 (IS 500)

UP1D2 portrait of vehicle = Description (4DR/Sedan/Lexus IS 500 - LE)

9th character is changing as seen in this thread - Check Digit Security Code for validation.

followed by the 10th & 11th digit which are N5 -> N = 2022 / 5 = Tahara Plant

and then the last 6 of 00xxxx for sequence number.

If we see more AP1D2, it should be pointing to a regular IS 500.

Okay that was fun, enjoy!!

If someone has a better breakdown let me know

I could be entirely wrong, but I don't think the analysis for the body type and series are correct. I ordered a 2022 IS350 RWD and the first part of the vin is JTHSZ1B. The Z makes sense since its a different engine, but using your analysis my vin should theoretically be JTHUZ?? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Vins confuse me as much as UPC labels, which in case some of you didn't know, they aren't random numbers. The numbers actually make sense and they basically check one another. But anyways, I digress

Hey Joe, not trying to poke holes in your theory but if the U in the UP1D2 is the Body Type/Drive train (4 door sedan 2WD), why would the regular IS 500 (non LE) would be any different? In other words, what would be the A if the U is a 4 door sedan 2WD? The non-LE would be the same body type/drivetrain no?

Unless I misunderstood what you meant, if so, I apologize for creating confusion....

The UP1D2 I do believe is the desc for the IS 500 special trim aka “ Launch Edition “
and AP1D2 should be for regular IS 500 base trim

The desc for your JTHSZ1B2 is for an IS 350 RWD and I found a JTHGZ1B2 for an IS 350 AWD

The middle 5 are called “Portrait / Vehicle Description”

Here are 2 more LEs coming into Charlotte, NC. Not sure if the one going to Northlake has a buyer yet, but that was the one I was offered.

You can add mine too (001592) that's an LE. Mine is showing to arrive into Long Beach on 12/14. At least that's what my dealer says. BTW, I was able to get mine in southern Houston and will have a 1,000 mile drive back to Iowa. Hoping there won't be any snow in early to mid January. My guess is that it will take approximately 3 weeks to get to the dealer from the port. Anyone know otherwise?

Just found this one! JTHUP1D24N5001000 Wonder if this is number 1 or if it's a preproduction?

Weird, just found this one is a working VIN as well..... JTHUP1D23N5000999

JTHUP1D27N5001699 works but I went through all the check numbers for N5001700 and nothing shows up for that one.

I have but is there a special digit for LE vs non-LE within the VIN?

Went back and reread your post, so your saying AP1 is the non LE model vs UP1 is a LE?

Went back an this comes back as a valid VIN and its not a LE. JTHUP1D20N5001415 but JTHAP1D27N5001415 seems valid as well but no info on it.
