^^ How would one prevent such abuse during PDI? I don't think they'll let me ride along...
You can try asking your sales guy. Considering you’re buying the car I presume you should be allowed to sit in the passenger seat. Regardless, I highly doubt that they did any significant damage to that IS500 above since it had 4 miles on the odometer.
You guys want a good laugh? Lexus of Palm Beach got two LE’s. Both for 20k over sticker. And one already sold at that absurd price. The other one, pictured here is #24 and was just delivered. The engine bay is scorching so my guess is that the tech certainly had fun during that PDI test drive.
I literally just registered an account here to call bull**** on these kind of dealer tactics. While I don't own a Lexus anymore, this kind of stuff pisses me off.
That being said, keep posting the pics of IS500's as they come in! I wish this car had been available in 2017 when I bought my IS350 F-Sport!

Hey TipsyT - Thanks for posting the pics and sharing the insight on the market adjustments - I still can't get over that someone would be willing to pay that much above MSRP for an IS 500. In the end, there will be some people with a lot of buyer's remorse when the reality sets in. It is also disgraceful what the tech did, but to be honest, why settle for abusing a customer with the sale price when you can also abuse their car with the same transaction. This leaves such a bad taste in my mouth....

I know that my dealer knows me well and how very OCD I am and has already assured that their master tech will be touching my car and I know him too so I feel I am in good hands but you also have to trust the people you deal with. That being said, the more you build a relationship of trust and respect you develop with your dealer, the more that respect and trust will go both ways.

To be honest, I know many will want a louder exhaust but on start up, I was pleasantly surprised and it certainly says "I mean business so don't F (sport) with me"

It sure did - Thanks for doing it and posting it (This after I was saying yesterday on how I never get why people enjoy videos of exhaust sound (lol)) - At least you just let yours sound natural and didn't push the revs to the rev limiter (lol)

I totally hear ya - I feel the same way!! BTW - Don't let a 2017 come in the way of a wonderful relationship!! (lol) I have a 2021 that I am getting out of for this bad boy and I know of another forum member that lives not too far from me who is also trying to get his hand on one and off load his 2018 (if I recall correctly). Life is short my friend, if you want one, don't go through life regret not getting one when you had a chance My 2 cents

If I didn't have a 2021 BMW M2 Competition, the IS500 would be my first choice. I'm pretty happy with my BMW (which says a lot because every other BMW I've owned, with the exception of my 1990 M3, have been pretty lackluster)!
^^ That was one critical part of the equation I did not know, and now it makes total sense
Yeah, but remember, it's the first BMW I've owned in 30 years that I like. Honestly, I am quite disappointed in BMW styling these days (don't get me started on the new M3/M4 or even the new M240i). BMW's design language is thoroughly lacking in every department.
The M2 Competition and IS500 have a lot in common actually. They both use really old tech, and to me that is a plus and not a minus!

(LMAO) - I hear ya. I remember when I got my 2015 IS, a buddy of mine who owned a BMW used to laugh at me and made fun of the "predator grill" - He ain't laughing anymore with his beaver teeth grill (LOL)
