I went into “F” status late last week with a delivery window of 12/20-12/27. That narrowed down to 12/20-12/22 on Friday with a status of “F IN TRANSIT TRUCK SHIPMENT.” It didn’t show yesterday. The GM I’m dealing with requested the car be “hot tagged” for shipment through his Lexus rep yesterday with hope of delivery before Christmas. “Hot tag” apparently means they expedite the car processing so it doesn’t have to sit at port longer than it has to. At lest I learned something new.

Exactly. It's also worth noting how the dealers are going about this. They are not saying "You know, times are tough. Unfortunately we got to put food on the table for our employees. Once the market stabilizes we won't do this anymore. We really value your business and hope you can understand." No. Quite the contrary "The markup is $20,000. We are not willing to budge on it. If you're not going to pay for it, somebody else will. F*** off now peasant"

Whether they're saying it directly or indirectly, they are all certainly thinking it. We're all suckers in the eyes of dealers asking for markups.

What annoys me is the dealerships listing the prices on their website - MSRP prices. Some have the option to click a "get todays price" button and it's still MSRP. You can view the window sticker as well and it'll list MSRP and any add ons. But then when you reach out to the dealership you get hit with the whole "mark up" pricing. Maybe it's me, but that seems like a bait and switch tactic. Maybe I'm wrong.. but I don't know. Just seems super shady to even list the price on their site if that's not the true asking price.

At least in the South Region, because of the supply chain issues/COVID, dealers aren't allowed to "Hot Tag" vehicles at this time. My inventory manager tried, but the most she was able to do was tag it as Pre-Sold and hope that it would move quicker because of it. But if its at the Truck Shipment point, you should definitely expect it soon. Perhaps even today.

It may be a good idea to wait for the 2023 model. The Lexus V8 in transition years has had problems historically.

Interesting 🤔. I saw the conversation with the Lexus rep in which they suggested hot tagging. Maybe it’s just a South Region thing or it really can’t be done and no one knows what they’re talking about 😂. The logistics with Lexus have been interesting. Foreign just does it differently. Unlike domestic, there’s really no ordering and fill time. It’s just an allocation. Same is true with ordering domestic but that unit can be spec’d to the buyers liking. Back when I ordered my Silverado it came with an option code of “sold order expedite” on the GM RPO code sticker.

Those numbers are not accurate by any means. No third party company has Toyota/Lexus exact invoice pricing and holdback. Those are just their assumptions and calculations.

Just got off with Terminal 4 in Portland. My LE that has been there for 22 days and was due to be processed on 12/21 has not been processed and it is "just sitting there". It was started 3 days ago and no activity since.....you might want to keep this in mind when you are given any dates by the Lexus Dealer because obviously they don't have any information that is reliable.....they couldn't even give me this info, I had to call the Terminal direct and I pretty much get lucky on the phone......and I only got lucky because I mentioned snow and the guy on the phone knew I was local as we have a cluster weather event on the horizon......hard not to be ticked off, with the impending weather they may not be able to get the car to the dealer and even if they did I probably could not get it home for as long as 2 weeks, unless on Wed 12/29 when its between 25-16 degrees the streets are dry enough for me to swoop in.....it's a friggin December to remember alright......ridiculous.
