A $61k car with a $96000 annual salary is on the brink of unaffordable, but an incredible salary at 26. Congrats. Whether you will suffer for getting the car ultimately depends on where you live and who you marry. On your salary alone you could prequalify for a 700k house assuming 20% down which should take no more than 5 years even if you got the car. In CA this will barely get you a small condo but let’s say your wife made the same amount as you then your combined income (190k/yr) would qualify you for a $1.4 million house. In CA this should comfortably get you a condo in a good school district or SFH in a less good area. Youll live like a king anywhere else in the country. Me I am personally likely to do similar as you and finance part of if where I’m comfortable with the monthly <$1000/mo but then pay it off quickly since my wife wants another house soon. Car payments will lessen your borrowing power for a house.

edit: I see you live in Florida. Yeah get the car. Finance or cash doesn’t matter, whatever you’re comfortable with. You’re doing great and your salary will only increase with time.

I have about $25k equity in my current vehicle that I will put toward the new one and finance the rest. I don't like buying vehicles outright or even putting down large amount of my own money for them. To me, the interest isn't that much and I'd rather stay liquid instead. Depending on the price of house you're looking to buy I think you can afford the car. A $600 payment when making $8k a month is totally affordable.

Not all of CA is crazy priced I am in CA and bought a 1750 sq ft house in 2008 for $205k that was in the "good" part of town lol.

I think you should buy the house before you buy the car.

I have a G80 5.0. The dealer experience is a complete and total disaster.
The Subaru dealer in my region (we also have a Crosstrek) runs circle around Hyundai.

I will only consider a Genesis again after (and if) they create their own dealer network.

I will pay cash for mine. I usually don’t finance anything under $2M.

You are starting out making good money. Keep working hard and you will be able to pay cash also soon.

may i ask where you are?
when i was in LA i decided to test drive a kia sringer and the dealership experience was a joke but back home in the south its much better. Genesis was on par with bmw and mercedes. Still il very hesitant to get into another korean car. My sonatas engine blew uo due to engine recall defect and i was lucky tobe able to join the class action before the claims expired. However, it was like pulling teeth trying to get them do anything even though the case was already decided in our favor. Took me 6 months, absolutely ridiculous.

I was just reading through the user manual, and found out break in period is 621 miles! For some reason I thought it was 1000 miles.

I'm in the Charlotte NC area. And I tried 4 dealers in the region. They are all fubar.

(sorry, just saw the ask from the admin, let's stay on topic. Apologies)
