Hey guys. New to the forum. Don’t have a Lexus yet but my brother has a 2021 RCF. Thought about looking into getting a IS 500. Live in socal and looked at if any dealers had any and Newport Lexus has a Launch Edition #160 and they’re asking $93k

Yea probably. Barely getting into the Lexus world. I’ve been a Tacoma guy for the past 10 years lol

Whether you will suffer for getting the car ultimately depends on where you live and who you marry. On your salary alone you could prequalify for a 700k house assuming 20% down which should take no more than 5 years even if you got the car. In CA this will barely get you a small condo but let’s say your wife made the same amount as you then your combined income (190k/yr) would qualify you for a $1.4 million house. In CA this should comfortably get you a condo in a good school district or SFH in a less good area. Youll live like a king anywhere else in the country. Me I am personally likely to do similar as you and finance part of if where I’m comfortable with the monthly <$1000/mo but then pay it off quickly since my wife wants another house soon. Car payments will lessen your borrowing power for a house.

edit: I see you live in Florida. Yeah get the car. Finance or cash doesn’t matter, whatever you’re comfortable with. You’re doing great and your salary will only increase with time.
That's exactly my main concern. My buying power would be diminished, which is why I'm currently driving a 2004 Corolla. If I was planning to buy a house 5 years from now, I would definitely be one of the first few on this thread to have an IS500. Unfortunately, I'm targeting mid 2023 which left me with little to no time to replace whatever I took out. I've been following this thread and stalking YouTube since February. Saying I simply love this car would be an understatement. Thanks for the reply, bro.

I get it. If you can pay off the car 100% within a year and a half and have a 6 month emergency fund and have 20% down payment for a house for the max loan your salary will allow, I think you can safely go for the car now. But even if you can't, you can still make it work by just buying a slightly smaller home.

Florida can get very different depending where you are. If you're in South florida like I used to be, probably wait. But most other places you're fine. Here in Tampa now amd we were able to get a good sized home with a quarter acre for a bit less than 300k, but that was right before housing market kicked off. If it's mid 2023, I think you'll he fine depending where you are

Nice! Looks to be a '10 or '11 ISF judging by his wheels👍

User from yesterday was kind enough to do a take two on the shift lag in manual mode (normal, sport, sport +) and the results are disappointing to say the least. Again, I wonder if this can be addressed with a software update or in the 2023 is500 lineup.
