^^ My IS 500 will be a summer car for sure, not because it couldn't handle the winter driving but just because I want to keep it pristine and it's my baby. I do have a winter beater (2 actually) - An Elantra and a Spark and they do the trick.

Summer 2022 will be great to drive this RWD toy and can't wait to get it

I think they certainly function well, but god are they hideous. And if you have trypophobia it’ll stop you from getting in the car all together lol.

This guy annoys the crap out of me. He's up there with Joe Raiti from Raiti's rides.

According to MT, all Lexus models will get a completely-new infotainment system very soon. Not sure when (or whether) the IS will get it, but the new one looks/performs so much better than the current one. One more reason to wait for 1-2 more model years for the IS500.

Hi folks, I’ve split off the IS500 tire discussion into its own thread.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-choices.html

One of the biggest advantages of forums is our organization and ability to search past topics to get quick answers, and it will benefit you and future owners to have discreet threads with specific topics.

I know some members have already started doing this (thanks) and suggest if you have a topic or question past the delivery of your beautiful new Lexus, start a new thread about it! The best ones we will also catalog in our FAQ/DIY sticky.

You're assuming that Lexus will add the infotainment system to the IS and keep the IS500 around. I think that's a big assumption given the overall shift away from naturally aspirated V8s and the experiences of other manufacturers. Subaru fans have been waiting, what, 7 years for Subaru to put a new engine in the STI? Selling a model refresh and a V8 to the Lexus higher-ups might be tough.

I gotta say I'm eager to buy the existing IS500 with it's current styling.

This new Lexus motif reminds me a little of...

^^ I agree, I had posted a new thread about the direction of Lexus with the infotainment, lexus badging (rather than logo) and exclusive products for certain markets. I am very doubtful will see any further design changes (significant) to the the IS 3.5G - I feel this model update was just to get a few more years before they could bring the new platform in collaboration with Mazda. My gut tells me we'll see a total of about 3 MY of the IS 500 (4 MY for the IS 300/350 which came out in 2021) then I think they'll introduce the new IS with the new chassis, the new design language and new infotainment/interior. I could be wrong but that is my thoughts so for those that want a V8, get them while you can, I know I am not risking it. My only issue is I am 99% sure Lexus Canada will bring the moonroof in the MY 2023 as I think this was an omission on their part but I don't use the roof, I just like the visual it creates (even closed) so I will wait and see what the bare roof will look like before deciding if I'll roll the dice and wait for 2023 or not. I'd hate to wait only to find out that the roof won't be on it and the MSRP is 2000$ more and availability is still limited (lol)

I agree. I like to put myself in my 2011 shoes. If I could’ve had a IS F back then would I still love it the same today? Yes, I think it would be still a great car even against today’s technology/designs. The same will be for the IS500 in 10 more years. Cult cars should always age well.

Understand your standpoint. For current/soon-to-be owners, it is natural for them to wish the IS500 will be discontinued soon, or never get significant updates. However, I personally still recommend modest waiting (or reasonable delay of enjoyment), which typically yields the maximum outcome.

Worst case scenario, one can still wait until Lexus announces they are going to discontinue the IS500 then to pull the trigger.

...exactly, I mean would anyone of us would turn down the chance to own an LFA for say 45 000$ and say "Sorry, I like the engine and such but that infotainment screen is so 2009 and OMG, the cup holders are so small" (lol)

that is a perfectly fair statement although you never know how much of a frenzy that will cause - especially knowing V8 will be phased out all together, it's not like their will be other options. Imagine another "toilet paper pandemic situation" but for the V8 - sorry, I am not waiting to T - minus 0!

Or Lexus will announce there won't be a replacement after the car has run its course.
