Consider a scenario where the sooner the car is paid off, the sooner someone can use their $ for something else, like a larger house that they couldn't afford now due to income restraint or likewise couldn't afford a large house payment + IS500 payment in 3 years.

I understand in the year 2030 and beyond that a 2025 IS500 will be worth more than a 2022 model, but if you can afford this car in the first place that is a marginal amount (maybe $8,000 max all else being equal) of your total net worth. Maybe you get a better suspension or maybe you get a HUD, maybe both. But is that really worth waiting 3 years of your youth?

Now if the 2022 model year turns out to be a dud, like it burns oil, then yes, you saved yourself a world of headache by waiting. Let's hope that's not the case.
The '12 to '14 ISF was miles better than the '08 to '10. Super long list of updates, upgrades, etc, both inside and out, and performance wise (even though the HP and motor remained the same). I'm glad I held out for the '12....as bad as I wanted an 08 when it came out. 08, unfortunately, but understandably, was by far the worse year ISF, and naturally, is the one with the least value/less desired. The only was this doesn't happen with the IS500 is if there's only one model year (like the LFA).

^^ I hear what you are saying but correct me if I am wrong, but the IS F in 2008 was a brand new model unlike the IS 500 which is basically starting from the 2021 IS 350 F Sport DHP and adding the yamaha dampers in the rear, adding a well established engine and transmission with Enkei wheels, a slight revised hood and quad tips. What do you feel would be seriously problematic with this car? To me, this should be a somewhat safe model to jump in....I mean even the new LC has some growing pain but again, that was a brand new model

Yes true V. But remember it was also the best selling year between 08-09. By that I mean many 2008 sat on the lots well into 2009 and eventually sold.. While the production numbers were greatly scaled back for MY09.

Many people didn’t realize all the continuous improvements didn’t equate to more sales..
It was also a very though economic time period compared to today.. #dayjob

Here’s the sales run for USA only, in its 7 selling years. For my Canada friends, they had 566 total for the same years.

USA __#__ Units Sold - Lexus IS F

2008 _____ 2,733
2009 _____ 436
2010 _____ 502
2011 _____ 654
2012 _____ 568
2013 _____ 139
2014 _____ 86
Total = 5,118

Global figures are slightly over 10k units.

Let’s hope the IS 500 can do better this time around, with its “first naturally aspirated V8”

These guys want 10k over plus 2.2k in Port installed accessories and are rather rude about it - "we can and we will sell this car"... then they have all sorts of misinformation in the video 🙄

When they initially tried to sell this car, they kept calling it caviar with Ash

A 2008 and 2012 IS F. Both around 40,000 miles. Both located in Northern CA. The 2008 is $39,000. The 2012 is $46,000. Looks like similar packages. But the 2012 IS F also had a MSRP of $5.3k more than the 2008. So more or less both are holding their value equally.

..."this is the first time Lexus has introduced a V8..." FALSE - It is laughable to see the incredible incompetence of some people. Why bother doing promotional videos if you have no clue what you are promoting....

Hopefully they spend $12,300 on the promotional videos & staff labor in their attempt to fleece an extra $12,200 out of what could have been a long-term loyal customer.

The car is no longer on their website so it seems they sold it. Guess the joke's on us.

^^ Jokes on the sucker who paid 10K over MSRP to be honest....Imagine, you can have 2 people with their 500 talking in the parking lot. How much did you pay for your identical IS 500 LE? I paid 75K (example), oh, that is weird, I paid 85K. Makes me think of that hotel Trivago commercial where one guys paid 135$ for the same room as the guy who paid 99$

Yes I 100% agree. But that's what makes the USA a beautiful place. We're not all equal and that's a good thing! Outside of protection under the law, we were not meant to be.

Oh right you're Canadian.

^^ LMAO - Yeah, not that it is sunshine and lollipops up here however, it is nice that at least on the car front, there are some consumer protection for not being taken to the cleaners. Just don't hate because I am beautiful

Question

Just to be clear guys the $2,200 in Port Installed options does not ALL goto the dealerships..

If it’s part of the MSRP they just get the incremental %, like the car itself.

Just wondering did anyone see or grab the MSRP..?? I’m curious as to how many PIO items were added..
