Oman350is, you’ve made it clear you don’t like the brakes. Move on from it please, more is just trolling.

Other members, let's move beyond responding to Oman's brake comments. It's been covered and incites further replies.

EDIT If you still respond to him and your post disappears, it's because you didn't do this..

My IS 500 has been sitting at port for a month or so. Monitoring it on the Lexus app it has been started up at least 7 different times. Just yesterday it likely was left idling for over an hour and inexplicably started up at midnight. Since arriving at port it has gone thru a 1/4 tank of gas and still only has just 3 miles on it.

With all that idling of a brand new engine in mind, and assuming my car’s pre-delivery experience isn’t unique, what are your thoughts as to one’s ability to even still have to opportunity to implement your break-in procedure ? Would 2+ hours of idling before being able to rev it out mean it’s too late to get the benefits you’ve described ??

Side note - I’m not disagreeing with your procedure, it does make sense. Like many others I have never had engine issues or oil burning problems with any Toyota/Lexus product that I’ve owned since new, and kept most well past 250k miles, so will probably continue to follow the break-in procedure as stated in the owner’s manual, if only to avoid any warranty arguments in case there is an RPM & mileage data logger being kept by the vehicle like one of my Porsches (supposedly) had.

The incognito is great and the car looks even better now that it is tinted and has a ceramic coating on the paint. Now, I'm just pending PPF for the front.
I have about 420 miles so far on it in less than a week.
I couldnt resist a few stoplight races against a WRX (I won easily) and a mustang (I lost).
I hope I didn't affect the break-in by doing this. I've floored it a few times otherwise. I certainly have not babied it, but also not gone totally crazy.
Any more thoughts on the break in?
I've always made sure to warm it up to temp.
I follow the break-in procedure in the manual since Lexus took the time to put it in there I figure it should be followed. Many don't and their cars are fine.

One this that you definitely should NOT do though is put your PPF ON TOP of the ceramic coating. If you have a good ceramic coating that PPF will not stick. You should PPF then ceramic over the top of it.

I would be willing to be that is not his car. Lexus of Pembrook PInes shows 4 LEs in stock on their website. I thought about shooting them an email, but the last time I emailed about a car being abused by a dealer tech for YouTube videos the dealership (Acura dealer) didn't give a rat's *** about it and thought it was funny. Basically reaffirmed for me that there is a lot of human garbage out there and many dealerships/salesman truly are scumbags. I guess I will never really know if mine gets driven like this when the comes in, maybe ignorance is bliss.

He is very careful to not show the LE badge number, but the blur clarifies briefly at about 40 seconds to show a clearer shot of him doing 108 mph on the highway.

Edit - Found the car, it's #254. He posted it on his Instagram. The interwebs says that he worked in the marketing department for Lexus of North Miami. Maybe the spreadsheet can be checked if #254 has been accounted for and on the forum.

Who needs brakes when you just need to go fast?

This really makes me sick to my stomach. When I finally get word that mine is on its way, I will be all over my sales rep to ensure it’s driven as less as possible.

Same, having had somebody do this to my C7 it really hits home.

The spreadsheet says #254 was Lexus of North Miami, so at least we know where the car was sold from. I don't know if they're a member here or not.

There should be something equivalent of a quality tamper seal for cars like they make for orange juice bottles. Something to guarantee the car hasn’t been driven faster than X mph before the seal comes off under ownership of the buyer. Surprised car manufacturers haven’t come up with this - it would elevate a brands prestige significantly. Maybe exotics do this but I wouldn’t know.

A lot of this is tracked is some higher end cars' performance pages. I know GM products even have a dedicated camera for this type of driving.

254 is at Pembroke Pines. North Miami is their sister dealership. We have the most up to date log/registry here:

Yep, he works at Lexus of North Miami and the video appears to start off at Lexus of Pembroke Pines. The LE spreadsheet is coming in handy !!!

EDIT - apologies for the somewhat duplicative post, dang it if it doesn't take forever to type something up on a tablet.

It’s about not hitting things. You can try removing the brakes from your current vehicle and see what happens
