No. That's perfect break-in procedure. Short bursts of power followed by lifting to pull oil up through the rings and clear the debris from wear. This engine will produce good power and last a long time producing good power compared to babying it for 1000 km, never seating the rings and burning oil.
With all that idling of a brand new engine in mind, and assuming my car’s pre-delivery experience isn’t unique, what are your thoughts as to one’s ability to even still have to opportunity to implement your break-in procedure ? Would 2+ hours of idling before being able to rev it out mean it’s too late to get the benefits you’ve described ??
Side note - I’m not disagreeing with your procedure, it does make sense. Like many others I have never had engine issues or oil burning problems with any Toyota/Lexus product that I’ve owned since new, and kept most well past 250k miles, so will probably continue to follow the break-in procedure as stated in the owner’s manual, if only to avoid any warranty arguments in case there is an RPM & mileage data logger being kept by the vehicle like one of my Porsches (supposedly) had.

So far I am loving my IS500. The transmission is perfecly fine and I am enjoying everything about it.
The incognito is great and the car looks even better now that it is tinted and has a ceramic coating on the paint. Now, I'm just pending PPF for the front.
I have about 420 miles so far on it in less than a week.
I couldnt resist a few stoplight races against a WRX (I won easily) and a mustang (I lost).
I hope I didn't affect the break-in by doing this. I've floored it a few times otherwise. I certainly have not babied it, but also not gone totally crazy.
Any more thoughts on the break in?
I've always made sure to warm it up to temp.

II would call and inquire and see if they encourage employees to treat cars like this?! That is of course unless he owns it....I contacted Lexus Canada about the earlier incident with the rail yard and they have been in touch with me and have launched a full investigation and review. We can't let people get away with this stuff.
He is very careful to not show the LE badge number, but the blur clarifies briefly at about 40 seconds to show a clearer shot of him doing 108 mph on the highway.
Edit - Found the car, it's #254. He posted it on his Instagram. The interwebs says that he worked in the marketing department for Lexus of North Miami. Maybe the spreadsheet can be checked if #254 has been accounted for and on the forum.

The spreadsheet says #254 was Lexus of North Miami, so at least we know where the car was sold from. I don't know if they're a member here or not.

There should be something equivalent of a quality tamper seal for cars like they make for orange juice bottles. Something to guarantee the car hasn’t been driven faster than X mph before the seal comes off under ownership of the buyer. Surprised car manufacturers haven’t come up with this - it would elevate a brands prestige significantly. Maybe exotics do this but I wouldn’t know.

I follow the break-in procedure in the manual since Lexus took the time to put it in there I figure it should be followed. Many don't and their cars are fine.
