Thanks! I just called. $5k markup - no other extras & no geographic sales restrictions

As of this AM, they're staying firm on the $5k - "last one we're getting" - such BS

Talk about having money to spare

I think it really depends on how the market is in the area you live. Like in CA where a house is over a Million dollars a 20K markup might not make much difference. But adding a 20k markup in the boonies of NC would not fly as the money is worth differently there.

If you could talk them down to about half of that markup that would be a good deal

They mightve talked them down. But to what 10k? 5k? Still too much for me. The only way I would buy it under these terms is if starting today Gavin Newsom immediately banned sales of all gasoline cars and started redistributing people's cash LOL. Then yeah I'm buying a IS500 whatever it takes.

And maybe if they threw in 2 years of maintenance and/or ceramic coat.

I agree. I realize it's difficult for us to comprehend, but I think some buyers simply don't want/have time to spend searching the country and just want to lock-in the LE purchase.

Is there a forum member with $ down on an Atomic Silver/Black at Lexus of Highland Park? It arrives at the end of this month. They're reaching out to the person ahead of me to see if still interested.

Well I live in CA and sadly I can't buy a house in my own neighborhood for under $2 million anymore, and let me tell you, a $20k mark up is still a lot for a car for me and most people here. Home value is irrelevant, we're not selling, so owning expensive homes does us no good. It's smart money here. Ironically, poorer neighborhoods is probably where you see people paying for cars they shouldn't own.

Well that's crappy. On the phone, they didn't mention any markup on that one. He knows that I won't go over MSRP, so would be odd for him to reach out about it if there was one.

I can believe it because someone did the same here. Guess the Snow Birds from NJ/NY are bringing the stupid money with them down to Florida...as usual

Congrats if you get that. I inquired about that last Friday and was told it was pre-sold, awesome if you are 2nd in line and get it. Let us know how is the mark up if any.

It's likely I won't get it. The potential buyer had $ down for 6-months.

It might be because I'm from Illinois - not local.

Can you explain “lifting” in this context? What does it mean, how is it done?
