The IS350 was a good car but I wanted something with more power and Lexus just didn't offer what I wanted. If they had an IS500, I may have gone that route. The M3P power is addicting....It's next level performance compared to an Is500 or M340 but it's not a luxury car. It's a premium sports sedan and those that find the is500 attractive may not find the M3P attractive and vice versa. I say if the is500 scratches the itch, go for it as you many never get another chance at a V8.

That's true... I'll definitely check it out when it becomes available for test drives.

Any idea what the fuel economy would be in the IS500? I'm assuming comparable to the GS-F

"Fuel Economy" and "V8" are mortal enemies.

It should just be labeled "fuel consumption."

In one of my cross shopping posts I mentioned the '21 camry hybrid LE which gets 53 miles per gallon. I've been on the camry forums to see if that is just a utopian pipe dream number but it seems that sedan achieves what it claims. I've talked to a number of toyota dealers and have their admirable lowest offers despite the huge inventory issues. I even have my color picked out...

But I just can't get myself to pull the trigger on the smart and economical option. I've decided to wait for the IS Fivehundo to hit market. I figured I'm allowed to make a few bad decisions in my life and this is one of them

Sensible fuel economy is something I've factored out of the consideration. I got the FOMO...

I know this was asked somewhere in this thread and I couldn't find it again...

but are the wheel sizes the same compared to the is350? I have after market wheels (staggered) on my 2015 and was wondering if they'll fit on the is500. any feedback is appreciated!

I don't understand much of the MPG and V8 hate. For a V8 sedan the ISF gets remarkable MPG in it's segment. With my 10-30 mile commutes I have aged 19-21mpg for 5 years now and highway MPG ranges from 24-29 mpg even FBO tuned, it's best if I keep it at 50-60 which is fairly easy in many congested or rural parts. Compared to the E92, C63, Chevy SS, CTSV or even the Scat Pack, ISF is on the higher end and it's like 1/3 the reason I bought it since I used to do 30k miles a year but wanted my cake too.
RCF/GSF are a touch lower due to weight, but IS500 should be around same. Now my GX470, I'm lucky to hit 18mpg, but with wife's CT200 50mpg isn't hard, so 20-30mpg for 500hp with that V8 burble is amazing IMO.

Well ya see, SOME Tesla owners DO on occasion need service, maintenance, etc, & they say the exact opposite... that the WORST thing about TSLA ownership is if you live in a remote area, then for them, lack of service centers is a huge pain in d'a$$.

If thats the case, then don't get the Tesla. I would never get any car without a dealership around just in case any warranty issues come up. No car is perfect as I had plenty of warranty issues with my Lexus IS350 over the 5 years I had it.

@EZZ taken from what @bareyb posted, a heavy Marketing spiel for TSLA is: "no required service &/or maintenance", so lotsa buyers don't even consider in advance that things occasionally go awry - after all TSLA is still a piece of machinery.

The advantage of Tesla is that there is no scheduled maintenance. I've had none with Tesla...just tires from a tire shop. I've had an FM radio module go out in the first week of ownership but nothing thereafter so it's a pretty convenient car. My Lexus had a vent go out and a speaker but I had them done along with scheduled maintenance. I've had to go to the dealership multiple times a year to get the scheduled maintenance so it's definitely less convenient but they give you a loaner and are super nice.

Every car has a chance to break so I still wouldn't get a car without a nearby dealership. Also, ish happens like running over something so having an available dealer is super important
