If Resistall was a ceramic coating I would've said get it, because $1200 is a good price for ceramic. But it doesn't seem so.
My local family of dealerships was the exact same way about the add-ons. Non-negotiable and was going to be added to all IS500s. Except mine was $6200. The only chance you might have to negotiate with ATL is if you have an invoice from another dealership showing the OTD price, not to be confused with the spec sheet.

It also boggles my mind how someone could be in the market for a 70k vehicle and not get approved for financing, That’s what happened with this red on white one. The guy above me on the list couldn’t get approved for it. I don’t understand how could one not anticipate this and go through the entire process just to be turned down in the end because of one’s poor financial health. I feel like people with a similar thought process are the ones overpaying for cars and driving the market up.
The last time I bought a car locally was almost 15yrs ago. The thing with a lot car dealerships is that they tend to fleece the locals the most. Just like “UPs” that walk into the dealership get hammered much more than those that call in or email to make a deal.

I honestly don't think this is true at all. There's been over 130 Launch Edition numbers reported through this forum plus I called numerous dealers across the country where they were getting 2-6 Launch Editions. There's like 243 Lexus dealers either in the US or North America and they're all getting at least 1 Launch Edition (Incognito Gray) so that statement doesn't make sense. However, if it is true, then that means that the Incognito Launch Edition will end up being even more rare.

So my somewhat local ATL dealer called me today asking if I would be interested in a red on white IS500 on display in their showroom. The sales person told me this color combo was “as rare as hen’s teeth” and that my color choice of USB on Red “may never be produced”. I had put a $1000 deposit down with them back in 11/2021 because they assured me that they only sell at MSRP. Well, I asked him to send me a quote and sure enough it was at MSRP + 699 dealer fees and + $1200 resistall (non negotiable).
I was surprised when he told me that the resistall is mandatory and would be added to my “ordered” car too whenever it came in. I politely declined and asked him to cancel my order and refund the deposit.
I refuse to pay anything above MSRP and for any added fluff. So it seems like I won’t be purchasing the IS500 locally in ATL because all the dealers here are playing the gouging game.
Anyone interested in a red on white IS500 for 699 + 1200 above MSRP then pm me and I’ll get you in touch with the salesperson.

USB on Red is being built. Someone recently posted one in Puerto Rico. Don't worry about getting your spec. Sales people will always tell you its rare because they want you to either pay more or buy it off the lot

This is what I am thinking. None of the now three dealerships I’m dealing with have said it will not happen. Orders may be rare, but USB w/Red is not canceled.

Also, how does one find out who is getting allocated what?

It’s a PITA; you have to call dealerships and ask if they have any allocated IS 500s w/o reservations. That’s the script I use.

Update on my CEL:
i took it to the dealer today, they could not figure out what was wrong. They pulled the data from the car and sent me on my way. While i was driving home, about halfway, same issue.
it gets worse, i noticed this clunking noise in the transmission when braking and going from second to first gear. Its subtle but definitely noticeable. I heard this noise on day one but i thought it was the road. However after testing multiple times, its definitely the transmission and its gotten a bit more pronounced.
