The discussions of this car and all other stuff on this thread fills a void for me like no other place. It's so good LOL. Happy Friday ya'll!

I would agree the 2UR-GSE is a proven motor in service for 15 years now

MY08 IS F would have hit 220K if it wasn’t for Covid and working from home…

Having owned both, can say both are great cars. If I was looking at the 350, I’d probably also check out the new Acura TL as well.

Edit: Thanks arentz07, I meant TLX. Dating myself here. At least I didn't tell him to look at the Legend or Vigor.

I think you mean TLX?

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. I'd rather go BMW 3- or 4-series, possibly Genesis G70 over a TLX any day. The BMW and Genesis are much closer in size and overall mission than the TLX. Having owned the wife's 330i M Sport for about 9 months now, I can say it does a lot of the same things well as the IS while being a bit more modern and efficient. But I don't want to go too far off-topic as this is the roll call thread.

Go big or go home. The 350 is so common now, and a 350 with DHP is just a couple thousand less than a 500. I don't think you'll regret the IS500. It's a very special car and the feeling you get driving one is easily worth the couple thousand.

Yeah, I'd say if you're not going 500, just skip the Dynamic Handling Pack. I haven't regretted skipping it yet. Even on back roads the IS handles great and puts the power down pretty well with the summer tires. The only time I've wished for that limited-slip diff is in the wet AND cold (at the same time). I had a little oops moment but TC was still on, so nothing came of it. It's a very easy car to hustle. DHP would be nice if you are going to be really pushing the car or tracking it, I suppose. In which case - the 500 would be worth springing for, IMO.

*Cries in DHP*
In all honesty, I sprung for the DHP solely because of the BBS wheels, the Sport S+ gauge cluster, and the wallet card key lmao

I actually had ordered a 2022 TLX Type-S back in October but got fed up with production & delivery wont be until May now. Which is why I jumped on the IS500 LE immediately .

What's the story of your decision to not go through with it. Usually, it's about money and that is totally understandable. Sometimes, we get too pumped up and then when the time comes to sign on the dotted line, reality kicks in. Nothing to be ashamed of even if you don't at an is350! Half the fun is enjoying the forum and that is free!

^^^ Agreed, but I’m getting mine. I can’t let you jokers have all the V8 Goodness Fun!

This spec may cause me to be the last in the group, but I’ll get there. 😎

I can attest to this. At the time I bought the IS500 til even now, it's been slightly anticlimactic. Maybe it's because I've seen every single IS500 video and am very familiar with the Lexus interior layout having a CT200. But honestly, I'm sort of glad there was no honeymoon-phase. That keeps me grounded in reality. Yes this car seems like an emotional purchase but it was also extremely calculated. I knew I wanted this or a GS F. I wasn't ever planning on settling. I didn't need a 3rd car. I was either going to get it or not get anything at all.

Anyone know of a new IS 500 available somewhere in the northwest United States? Mine will now be spending another 10+ days in the shop, and they're at the point where they won't work on it without my authorization (the alternative being that they'll tow it to my house so that it can rot away on the driveway). Apparently it'll take Lexus/Toyota 30-45 days to decide whether to do the right thing and replace my IS 500 ... and I think we can all confidently predict they'll answer 'no' and drag the process out even further.

Helloooooo, owner of #403 for the Launch Edition here! Picked up yesterday from Lexus of Austin in Texas, flew in from Houston and drove it back. Funny enough, I also met the owner of #272 while at the dealership and we got pics of our whips together, haha. I ran into the gasket issues other described above, the drive back home did a number on it sort of, so my car is in the shop, but holy cow was it an amazing drive home nonetheless. Lookin' forward to driving this car for years to come.
