The writing is on the wall. Naturally aspirated powerplants are on their way out. There's a reason why even AMG doesn't use their NA engines anymore.

My wheels are supposed to arrive today, meaning I might be able to drive my car home this weekend.

When you do that, make sure your steering wheel is tilted or you don't notice that its activated.

There's an Iridium IS500 available at Carlsbad now. Theyre still tacking on that Windshield Protection though, lol. $4020 in add-ons combined. That's an improvement from $6200 last month. Guess they chopped the Security System.

Folks no political commentary in this forum, please and thank you. Let's just enjoy our V8 beast while it's around.

Ya my better half is now thinking infrared might be too flashy again. She works at a very small medical practice so doesn’t want to come across as some big shot to her patients on days she takes it to work.

Main drawback to me of infrared is that it eliminates the red interior (rightfully so, but I absolutely love the red interior of our current IS 500). Trying to find a middle ground with atomic silver or perhaps caviar black so that could still get the red interior. Or just go with white on red again - it’s a very nice color combo.

Regardless did get back current IS 500 awaiting the replacement. Such a fun car to drive and it enjoys spending time with Arlis (our trusty ol’ GX).

I think atomic silver is a beautiful color, hides swirl marks amazingly, shows off the IS curves the best, and won't fade in 10-15 years like a red or even a blue.

The problem is it's extremelyyyyy common and to that point almost boring. Every grandma's RX NX and ES comes in atomic silver. But if your wife doesn't want to stand out I think it'll be perfect.

My dealer called to say they were not given any IS 500 allocations for February. Said the word on the wire is corporate is focusing on the CEL issue. Said it’s highly possible any cars in-transit will be returned to the factory for repair and then sent back.

I do not know if it’s 100% true, but I’m totally okay with it if so.

So far it has managed to set a personal record with three drives in a row without throwing a CEL. Definitely not trusting it to go outside of cell phone range prior to getting the replacement though. But man oh man, now that it’s broken in it sure is fun to drive around town and in the hills.

Cloudburst Grey isn't flashy. Trouble is finding any non-LE now.

Latest thinking and ‘fix’ on my IS 500 was that the middle third of the exhaust system wasn’t properly aligned with the exhaust manifold outlet, which caused stress on the exhaust gaskets (the weakest link), so they better aligned the various exhaust segments to relieve the exhaust gaskets of the forces that they weren’t designed to handle.

If true I wouldn’t think this would be reason enough to send in-transit cars back to the factory. Seems like the port or inventory starved dealerships could knock out this exhaust finagling. But maybe they’re sending them back to get a redesigned exhaust system rather than just manhandling the existing design to work?

^^^ I’d MUCH rather the factory fix it than the folks at the port. No offense to them, but I want the super professionals to look over everything with a fine toothed comb.
