I don't think there was any false advertising. Lexus didn't say the car came with a cooler. They're not the first manufacturer to install different parts for their press car or media car. It's very common when manufacturers go for Nurburgring records, but they don't exactly highlight that in their advertisements.

Wow, those are suppose to be super tires for winter. Keep sharing your experiences. I'm interested!

I totally get track records mods and C&D doesn't allow those for their testing as a principle. Also here you are talking about 50s-100s press cars of car not just one prototype. My main issue is every possible reviewer I seen mentioned this cooler and lexus didn't tell them this is not going to be on production cars. They took people on track everywhere why do that if this can not do one lap. Why show track and have race car drivers talk about car? Why put performance in the name? M340 has separate cooling pack and that car can handle few laps then why this car is not matching it? I am fine with slow car but I want reliable car that I can drive fast..how we are supposed to do that with cheap brakes and overheating trans I really don't know.
Lexus held track events with the car. That likely explains the cooler, just as it explains the upgraded brake pads and in some cases, different tires and exhaust.
The car is still a performance car. I have one. It lives up to the name.
If you're so enamored by the BMW, go buy one. The IS500 is what it is.

I agree. Right now it's harder to find a specific color than a launch edition

Mate, there weren't 50+ press cars. There were maybe 10, and that's being generous.

i finally had a chance to drive this thing in some back roads and highway today after installing the winter tires.
Maybe i got a little bit spoiled by other cars I own/owned: I did not get the initial "wow" impression when i tried to push the car when in automatic mode.
Kind of feel like 5.0 Mustang to me regards to Engine output (please no personal attack, just my humble opinion). However, in the highway, manually downshifted from 7 ->5, this thing moves to 90MPH very quickly and smoothly.
Overall comfort is amazing, feel like regular sedan comfort instead of performance sedan.
Last thing is price, i got my car at sticker ~69K. I understand this car is high demand, but i would argue premium is better buy if if you dont care about the launch edition. And if you are paying ADM on this, I dont think it is worth it. So please no.
For me this car would be most driven by my wife, and we are probably going to keep this car for a long time at least 5 years. Reliability is another factor to us.
Another car i have crossed shopped with IS500 LE is : MK8 Golf R. 45K for better tech, similar performance , manual (or dual clutch), downside you dont get reliability+V8.

Honestly, one of the things I like best about the IS F (vs. the wife's GS F) is it feels more athletic and violent when you ask it to do fun things. None of these cars feel fast if you're on the highway. 120 in the IS F feels just like 75. I'm pretty sure the IS500 is the same in that regard, but the way the IS F snaps to attention is on a different order than the GS F (and I'd bet the same for the IS500.)
