Question - has anyone experienced their engine’s idle dropping really low (down to ~200 rpm) shortly after startup? Has happened a couple time now - unfortunately each time I reactively blip the throttle to keep it from dying. Hoping next time I won’t react to see if it actually stalls completely.

Seems to happen most consistently after the car has been sitting unused for a day or two. I’m thinking it might be gas related … normally I use Shell or Sinclair, but last tank was filled up by dealership so no idea what’s in there right now.

You should have called me, I would have forked over the balance (lol) - Seriously, kudos for standing to your principles and like you, if I was in the US, 2000$ would be the most I'd be willing to go over MSRP, especially for a non-LE

Mine hasn't done that yet and it sat for 2 days after I bought it. Hasn't sat 2 days since though, a day at the most.

Could be fuel related, or computer related, like it wants to lower the rpm too quickly after start. Hopefully it learns how to start and quits doing that.

::heehee:: Darn it, I forgot to call! 😜

Yeppers every week when it’s washed and dried, $2K+ over sticker would pop into my head.

It will happen for me at some point, but the ‘What are you willing to pay’ dance was fun. 😈

Tell them you’ll do the 5K, if and only if you can get an autographed picture of you and Kris Koo hugging it out lol

Aren't you waiting on a USB/Red? Are any other color combos acceptable to you at MSRP? My dealer had USB/White a few weeks ago, buyer backed out but the car sold in like 4 hours at MSRP.

Yep! I seriously considered the USB w/white, but then I’ll see mine and go back to red. It really sets the car apart from everything else on the road, especially when the windows are down.

If your guy gets one in, I’m a sure bet at MSRP!

yeah, that red interior is awesome. I loved the red with ash trim in my 350.

He gets the driving dynamics pretty well. Not sure everyone would agree with him that the 8 speed is lightning fast though. My thoughts on this car after 1100 miles is that in manual mode the car has a ton of character in that it's very lively but jerky, even when I try to cradle the throttle and downshifts. Much different than the CVTs I've been driving for 13 years. In Auto mode is where it shines as a Lexus, with very smooth shifts no matter how hard or soft I drive. I'm still getting used to the sound of the V8 when I'm in lower gear above 4000 RPM. I love it, but it sounds like the engine is doing a ton of work (again coming from CVTs), so I often get nervous and just upshift to lower my RPMs and get good mileage. LOL. Which brings me to ask, when I want a little spirited driving, generally how long is it safe to stay above 4000 RPM?

I have said before many time but there are VERY FEW reviewers that I actually feel worthy of listening to what they say. I mean any jo-blo can have a youtube channel and claim to be a car expert - I just watch the videos for the footage, I always put it on mute and listen to music as I just don't have time for most have to say. 99% of us know more about this car than these reviewers (and dealers)

I think this engine is designed to rev so it should be able to stay above 4000 RPM as long as you want really, assuming you're just talking about spirited driving and not going 10/10 on a track.

+1, if you are pedal to the floor constantly, it's a good idea to let it cool down every so often, but some casual spirited driving is no biggie. When I drive the 350 spiritedly it lives above 3500 or so RPM the whole time (at least, on the fun sections of road ). If you drive it hard and then immediately park, open the hood to avoid heat-soak. Have fun.

+2, it's a Yamaha, so it's a pretty bullet-proof motor. It's actually designed, I read somewhere, to handle an 8500ish redline with proper engine management. I'd be more mindful of engine loading such as constant WOT than rpms. One of this car's strong suits is that it's built with proven hardware.

I've spent 20 minute sessions on track without ever going below 4000 rpm. These engines are not fragile. They also shift vastly better in Sport and manual mode above 4000 rpm. I've actually downshifted on track in a hairpin turn without upsetting the car. This wouldn't happen at 2000 rpm, but it worked well and got me back in the powerband without any issues.
