One of the comments on David’s newest video (Automotive Press) is that the car is already burning oil. Anyone else notice this?

At what rate? All engines burn oil, the question is how much over what time? I had a 1992 GTS Celica that burned a quart every 1000 miles. That was the last time I followed the factory break-in procedure. Since then, my engines burn so little that I never need to add oil in a 5000 mile oil change interval, and when I was running my IS F 10k miles on an oil change, it never got below the low mark on the stick except on track weekends.

If he smells burning oil, there's almost got to be a leak onto an exhaust component. You can't smell burning oil from the engine unless the cats are completely overwhelmed, and you'd be seeing clouds of blue smoke if that were the case. This could be a poorly seated valve cover seal pretty easily. Not at all common, but possible.

^^ OK, finally one that agrees with me!! I am not sure what is so cool/sexy about hearing the weird buffering noise it makes when it hits the rev limiter. It is not a sexy sound and almost sounds like the car is tell you, "dude, stop abusing me" but what do I know.

Seen an Iridium Premium on their website JTHAP1D22N5001676. If anyone is looking, maybe contact them for availability. Just trying to help someone get an is500.

If so much liquid is sprayed in there, it's quite possible just as much coated the exhaust manifold and cooks off during the first few drives. I know my garage smelled like strange exhaust after the first few ventures, but now it's much better...
