Hell yeah!!! I hope it all goes well brother. You deserve it. Was it at a cheaper price than Pembroke Pines?

Depending on where you live in the ATL, between 850 and 950 miles. I've done a similar drive in both the IS F and GS F, and it takes about 13 hours driving time. I've done it solo in a day more times than I'd like to count.

Sounds about right. It was about 14 hours to KCMO from ATL. It would be a heck of a way to get to know the new car.

I considered driving mine about 13 hours too. But, between flight costs and time the difference for shipping was very reasonable for me. And I didn't have to worry too much about the car getting beat up before it got PPF.

Makes sense. For me shipping was going to be at least $2000 (800+ miles). Instead 2 plane tickets for me and my wife + a mini vacation + a cool story was only $400. I think I spent about $130 on gas to drive back.

How is your PPF? Finding it worth it already? The shop that did my tints offered to match the price of Xpel PPF from another shop I got quoted at, for $1650 full front. They did a great job and are giving me 30 days to come back to do it. I can't decide though.

I think it's absolutely worth it if you care about the long term appearance and condition of the paint.

Even if nothing happens and I don't get impacts (doubtful) I'll still be happy. I didn't get it on the previous fun car and regretted it. Especially with any vibrant paint. Chips are super visible and eye catching.

Cost to get them touched up decently by a pro is easily half or more of the PPF and then there's no guarantee you don't just get more the second you leave the body shop. Plus even a grizzled body shop veteran won't be able to make it look great with just touch up. You have to respray which is a big yikes for 4 stage paint. 3 stage respray on a car with a 1" idiot gash on a fender self inflicted by a workout band cost me almost $2,000.

I'm not going to name any dealer, but I was in a discussion about the is500 premium and they want 10k over MSRP, FIRM. Just thought I'd share.

I'll also offer this, I've had chips in every single hood of every car I've owned. Bay Area roads are horrible, Heavy commercial trucks are everywhere. It's impossible not to tail or avoid them. They get all kinds of crap airborn and you drive through their debris field hearing the impact to metal and windshield. With the PPF it's not so worrisome. Definitely has value where/when I drive.

Thanks guys! One underrated argument against PPF that I once saw is that the 2021+ IS has a huge grille, where rock chips normally occur. In other words, there isn't a lot of painted surface (unlike a Tesla) on the IS500 bumper that needs protection. Another reason I don't think I need it is that PPF still requires cleaning, spray waxing, etc the same way a clearcoat does when bird poop, sap, pollen, bugs occur. I'm also not too worried about swirl marks, since swirl marks can be polished. Since I garage and baby my car anyway, the only difference PPF would provide is protection against rock chips, and how many rock chips will I really get with that giant spindle grille? knock on wood

Respectfully, but this seems kinda dumb IMHO. Not only is the IS 3rd Gen forum now a "Moved Thread" galore, but theoretically one could make the argument that 21+ models deserve their own subforum, or the IS200T,250,300,350 all deserve their own subforum. Not to mention the potential duplication of threads when IS350 and 500 owners encounter some of the same issues but they each post in their own respective forums. I'd urge the mods to reconsider this change. And if you guys are 100% set on keeping it, then my suggestion would be to do it how the RC forum does it with the RC and RC-F, not a sub-forum within a sub-forum...

This is 100% correct. Staying at a new hotel but there’s nothing around it. Looked at a few places tomorrow night and whoa the Google street view is disconcerting. I’m used to a secured garage and a concierge who walks around the perimeter. My poor car will look nekkid and vulnerable out here in the flatlands. 😂😂

FREAKING YAAAAAAAY!!!! @wthrman2 was exactly correct, the red is BEAUTIFUL! I’ve never seen the circuit red in person. It looks like tomato red in the pictures, but it’s closer to the red in my current.
