May be just a phone pic, but the circuit red came out right. The circuit red interior is near impossible to recreate in a photo. Everything online makes it look bright red, but in person it is much darker and nowhere near as bright.
Same with the circuit red interior. Online it looks like a tomatoey murder scene, but @wthrman2 saw it in person before me. He reported the color was deeper and more rich.
Maybe there’s something in their base color scheme that doesn’t translate well in pics.

Agreed. The actual shade is definitely darker than what photos and video typically display.
3. If you’re not able to find a car until after the baby arrives, then contact Shannon Brown @ Eskridge Lexus. Their ability to ****** up cars (no markups) is extremely impressive.
Been almost a year and I'm still waiting to get this car and feel like giving up.
In all honesty I did pass on a white color (in Jan) as neither me nor my wife prefer that color. But I was hoping to see another allocation in a month or two and have not seen any new IS500 allocated at my dealership (they had promised to not add any markup, bless them). In California the dealerships have now gotten territorial and any dealer who does not add markup is not allowed to sell to customers outside their designated area. Somehow those who do add markup have no such restriction, this all feels kinda illegal. It is certainly unfair and immoral.
Some of them are asking 15 - 20k. I get that business has been tight, but is there any proof that these markups are saving any dealerships from going out of business?
Out of state is not a real option anymore. I'm expecting a kid next month and I don't want to risk travel at this point. I was hoping to bring the baby home in the new car, but that won't happen unless there's a miracle. On the positive side - I won't be driving much for 2-3 months with a new baby 😅.
Anyway, thanks all for reading. I just wanted to get this off my chest.
Update on this.
I ended up buying a NX350h over the weekend. My original plan was to get IS500 this year and replace our old ES with SUV after 2 years. But given the uncertainty of production (for IS) it made sense to swap the order. I'll come back for the IS500 in 2 years. What bummed me was the 1500 markup I had to pay for the NX (different dealer). At least the dealer didn't add unwanted crap as upgrades.
That said it does feel like a miracle because now the baby comes home in a new car . I was #60 on the list for the NX and it was pure luck that the canceled order was Grecian Water with Black interior. This was my dream configuration for the IS500, but never saw a Grecian Water one listed on any dealer's site.
It was not what I had planned but I'm glad I got a new NX hybrid. My wife is very happy. The hybrid engine has great mileage (gas is $6+ in California) and I absolutely love this color. It looks so much better in person than the bright blue images online. I was initially worried the color would look like Porsche shark blue or mustang grabber blue - I don't like either. Grecian Water changes its shade based on sunlight and becomes dark blue when it's shady - just like the waters of Greece!
whothat - Congrats on your NX. I was at the dealer closer to where I live inspection the LE for a forum member before it was shipped and they had a GW NX in the showroom and it looked STUNNING! I have no doubt you will love yours and as you said, with the dealer markups, tight availability and artificially inflated price of gas, maybe things worked out that way for a reason. Don't look back, enjoy the new car, the new addition to the family but most importantly, don't stop contributing to this forum - I declare you an honorary IS 500 owner

Congratulations! A plan is a plan, so a little shuffling had to happen. I agree with @macmaster and @wthrman2 , you’ll be an honorary member until you’re able to grab one in two years!
Side note, came across my first car with the Grecian Water treatment yesterday. You’re absolutely right, it’s much deeper and richer in person. No way near the Voodoo Blue I thought it would be… Your family made a great choice. 👏🏽
Did my first long distance drive with the car yesterday. What a pleasant long distance cruiser. I always thought I was not a tech guy but the active steering wheel assist is quite nifty.
Got some freaking rocks thrown at my windshield though ugh and now I have some ball pen tip sized chips.

Don't they fill those with super glue or something so they don't expand?
Great cruiser, though! I enjoyed driving mine over to the coast. I am getting the windows tinted this weekend since the worst part of the drive was the sun in our eyes
This car needs sliding visors!!!!
I tried to line up our mirrors to know when to stop but I felt like I was too close and still not lining up. Then I remembered our hoods/front ends are longer.
Our cars also sit lower.
