Launch control in my C7 was awesome! Easy to activate and ripped off consistent 4 second 0-60 runs.

Launch control seems like a gimmick to me. I've owned and driven vehicles with launch control (owned a GTI and a GLI, driven a couple Porsches with launch control). I always feel like I "have to try it", but after that, I find it a little inconvenient to use unless I am on a deserted road, with no other traffic. I think it makes more sense in a DCT car. In my GTI and GLI, it really helped those cars get off the line by slipping the clutch and building boost in a controlled way to maximize traction. With a naturally-aspirated, torque-converter-auto car, I think the benefits are much smaller. Perhaps they do some magic with the TC and ESC to maximize traction without cutting too much power? Otherwise, I could take it or leave it.

Note: as Townsend Bell says "This is not an IS F"
1.
2. Video section 2.35

Simply setting the expectation for those that know what the "F" badge means (not to take anything away from anyone) although having the v8 nears the F badge almost 97.99999%

This is why the 500 is perfect for me. I’ll never hit a track, so all the gizmos in the F cars will be a waste for me. I just want a little more HP and better handling to be happy as a clam.

True, I would guess the sales ratio is 99 to 1 for AWD to RWD models here in Canada. But still, if it’s a low production model already and you’re offering every colour available sans one…

Also, the climate in Canada where these cars will live is pretty much the same as either the NW Pacific or NE USA, we’re not that much different than you guys in terms of weather lol.

what gizmos are we talking about? The packages that are included as standard in an F?

I would assume stuff like the stiffer/racier suspension, Torque Vectoring Differential, Brembo brakes/Carbon Ceramic brakes like on the RC-F Fuji Edition, full bucket seats, that sort of thing.

Just thought LC would be a nice cool-factor.

Yeah... I would hope the IS 500 would have a lower running cost and more daily livability compared to the RC F, thanks to less-fancy brakes (though, still two-piece), slightly narrower tires, and softer suspension. It seems like a great compromise, and it makes sense that they went this route with the more-practical IS sedan over the RC coupe.

For me, it helped a lot with spinning. It would chirp a little and take off. When I did it myself I would sometimes get a good launch and sometimes sit there and spin.

Same here! But I do really enjoy straight line performance.

Exactly. These items will not be on the 500, which is fine by me.

That's only a small part of the USA. We have desert, plains, and subtropical climates that Canada doesn't have.

There are only two Lexus cars that have had a real launch control. The first one was the LFA. The 2nd is the 2020+ RC F. The Launch Control in my RC F doesn't work great. Perhaps with stickier rubber it may do better, but I get lots of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear.

when I had my IS F, I thought it was cool having a car that was "track ready" but never did I take it to the track nor did I intend to bc I didn't like the idea of the wear and tear it would cause. to not have to pay the premium for it but still have the 5.0, win, win.

I also have looked from time to time, at used GS F's but either they are 2020 models and asking a premium for them or they have 50k to 60k miles on them and they are 5-6 years old, which I do not prefer. really no good choices in the middle ground.
