The V8 is back: IS 500 F SPORT Performance

Silverbull - I will also add to what DLPTony said (because he echoed what I was going to say), comparing the Supra to the IS500 is like apple and oranges. I sat in the Supra and had an opportunity to buy one and there is no way I would be driving in one of them. The sitting position is too low, the cabin feels very closed in and the visibility sucks. Now of course, if you want a true sports car and you are alright with that and geared for purely performance, then yes, the Supra would be an amazing car. The IS500 will be a very comfortable driver with more than enough power for the times you want to have fun. To be honest, unless you track your vehicles, most responsible drivers will never be able to fully exploit the power of these cars, the IS500 included. For me, the main raison I am drawn to the 500 is for the sound, the looks (just the IS in general) and especially, the exclusivity of this baby, plus the fact its also a dying breed.
Oh I forgot one thing too I love about Lexus - None of this Start/Stop crap that everyone is doing and having to always deactivate that feature....AMEN Lexus!

@flipside909 Does the 500 even have the oil and trans cooler from the RC F? I remember there was speculation it possibly does not back a couple of months ago, its great if it does!

If you are shopping the IS500 against the Supra you are in a completely different category that serves a different purpose. I would refer you to the new Nissan Z 400hp V6TT + 6MT sounds like a winning combination (I might actually buy one late in the life cycle as a keeper).

I went to the IS Pop Up at Fashion Island today as I happened to be in the area, thanks to flipside for the heads up on that.
The car is pretty much what you expect visually (having seen plenty of essentially identical IS350 on the road), other than the hood bulge which is very noticeable in person. The unique interior trim on the Launch Edition is nothing worth writing home about, but nice if you like Alcantara over leather.

How come the IS350 gets a carbon fiber spoiler but the IS500s (LE nonetheless) is just gloss black. Whats up with that.

That gray is not bad! Shows the lines of the car nicely and the black bits have good contrast.

I'm really partial to those BBS wheels so I called my local dealer and the parts dept. said that Lexus will have to run the VIN on the particular vehicle that comes with the BBS wheels for them to release the part number to even order them. he said Lexus does this on purpose to limit certain parts. I was hoping to either swap out the Enkei wheels for the BBS's, plus pay extra $$$ for that option (within reason), or in the worst case, see how much they cost off the shelf and maybe purchase them separately but looks like that won't be possible. anyone have any info on this?

maybe its going to be available as an option or accessory later? there has been number of is350 dhp with defective spoiler, it warps upward on the ends and doesn't sit flush with the trunk. could be the reason too?
I also have some unfortunate news, lexus is slowing production (not only because of chips, but shortage in other parts) will affect inventory in the coming months, not sure how it will affect the is5 towards the end of the year but its definitely a blow to my hopes of getting a good deal on a Lexus at the end of the year.
