Yes, don't get going. Save your political anger for another forum. And unless you have another planet to live on, someone better care about our rapidly disappearing world. And yes we all have flaws, but its better than doing nothing. On the topic at hand, supposedly they used racing-type parts that can take the start/restart at traffic lights, but that was Porsche who said that, and they are breakdown kings, so no, I don't believe they are a good thing.
Actually only 5% of your gas actually propels the vehicle forward, its very inefficient our combustion engines. So idling is a waste, but accelerating from a start is what uses most of your gas, with lots of gears, your vehicle is basically coasting when you are maintaining a speed on a flat surface. I do agree that stop/start is annoying though. Being a car guy, like most people on here, I had crappy cars growing up, and sometimes getting the car to start at all was a chore (see SAAB 900 Turbo) and when my car shuts off at a light, I always wonder if it will restart, so I disable the function. Tractor Trailers often idle because diesel engines are a different beast, and they are tougher to cold start in winter.

Or do you mean 5% is used to maintain speed and 95% is used to accelerate?

^^ Don't worry, I had a good chuckle
Probably the same type of people that drive an SUV or a truck and travel across the trip for their little vacations. Suffice to say, I don't care what people say or think, I am still going to enjoy the V8 and the smile it will generate. At about 5000 km a year (~3000 miles), I don't think I'll need to worry too much about it

Sorta enjoyed the audio clips of the IS500... but... beyond that, the video didn't speak to me on any level. I didn't get it.

Hum... yeah.... I think that video was meant for my 17 & 20yo kids because that's the kind of stuff they play when we're riding together ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Get them hooked while they're young I guess. Lexus is securing its future.

I mean, while I get what you’re saying, and for the most part you are right, there are exceptions. I’m 23, have a Masters of Architecture and I just placed an order for a fully loaded 2022 IS 350, so I’d argue it’s definitely possible to buy your own car at a young age.

Hey everyone! New to the forum (been lurking for a while though!), but have been in the market for a new IS for about 8 months now, patiently waiting for info on the 2022 models
Last week I called my local dealership, and they said that Lexus corporate told them they were no longer allowed to accept deposits for the IS500, even though I know my order will take several months to go through and am okay with that. Has anyone else heard anything about this? It kinda sounds like some people are still placing order, so I'm a bit confused.
I'm not in a rush, but I'd really like to have this car before next summer, and if they're not even willing to take my money as a deposit now I'm starting to get a bit worried

Actually you're both probably way too young to know that song.
