I'm going to disagree and venture to guess that the IS still doesn't feel as good as the GS F for 2 reasons. (1) No torque vectoring differential. (2) The history of the IS500 is that it was a last minute decision pitched by Lexus North America and approved by Mr. Sato after the new 2021 IS platform was already designed for the 300/350. That means they didn't have time to make significant improvements to the IS500 suspension over the IS350, and I can tell you that the 2021 IS350 does not handle quite the same as a late model GS F.

I'm basing all this just on video reviews and my own impressions having tested the GS F and 2021 IS350.

I will say the F cars have a nice suspension setup. Even in the RC F I drove, which was a 2016 MY car, it felt incredibly comfortable while being super-flat in corners. Those dampers are no joke.

However, I will say the 2021 IS 350 I'm currently driving is even more comfortable than my old 2016, and perhaps rides just a hair softer than an RC F would. Which makes sense... But also, the IS does in fact grip the road really nicely in spite of the soft suspension. I went on a mountain run with mine and felt really confident in the car. There was body roll, sure, but the car always felt vey planted. If that's how the 500 feels I'll be just fine with that.

Forgive the stupid question, but if I wanted to get an IS500 base with no options, would I go into a Lexus dealer and ask for one to be built? I know you can do that with a Corvette and you used to be able to watch it get built. Or do I just have to hope for one to show up? maybe telling local dealers that if one comes in I would buy it (probably not going to happen and they would mark it up)

^^ No stupid questions - the concensus here is that o dealers will order a base IS500 for their inventory and with allocations being so limited, I would think all cars will be special order, at least for a while. If you want me, get your bottom at the dealer and try ad tag one for you - don't snooze or you will lose

Having driven Acuras with the SH-AWD, I hear you there on torque vectoring differential and such. You also raised a good point that the car was never developed for the IS500 as that is an NA market pitch - HOWEVER, there are people speculating that a true F is in the wings and the 500 is an intermediate step so its possible the changes to the chassis and such can bring some improvement. I am not discrediting your claim that the GF S will handle better than the 500, in theory, it makes sense but I guess time will tell. For me, its a moot point because I won;t track mine nor am I an aggressive driver, I just want one because of what it represents - my middle finger to those wanting to shove electric cars down my throat

Heck ya! I am with you 100% on the electric car thing. I'm also anti-SUV so it's also my middle finger to all the speed-demon crossover moms out there. I'm actually looking forward to driving this car really really slowly just to p*** people off.

Model#

9554 - IS 500 F SPORT $56,500

9555 - IS 500 F SPORT Launch Ed. $67,400

9556 - IS 500 F SPORT Premium $61,000

+ Delivery, Processing & Handling fee of $1,075

Premium Paint (3T5, 8X1) (Infrared Metalic & USB 2.0) + $565

Premium Paint (083, 1L1, 1L2) (Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridum) + $500

*** 9/17/21 Edit ***

Here is my follow up on the Accessory Options / PIO - Port Installed Options.

If you special order, some of these can be added (maybe) but I can see most IS 500 will have the Z1 or Z2 Accesory pkgs built into the Window stickers.. They will vary per 4 USA area regions.. North, South, East, West

Things that caught my attention are the CF mirror covers and CF Wing..
I do believe the CF wing is the same exact one found on the IS 350 F SPORT w/ DHP package..

Too bad they didn't make these CF bits standard on the IS 500.

So once again keep in mind these codes are for the entire 2022 IS Line up.. (not IS 500 specific only)

I put this together on an excel file for all to know the codes

Personally to me it sounds like the memory package comes standard with the base model.

Honestly I'd be good with the base model...the only thing I really want is the Sunroof...and viola, it's in the base package.
If it has Android Auto...bonus!

The only thing that peaked my interest from the Premium package is the headlights.

I may have missed this but are we expecting more than 1 model year run for this? This is the last thing I need to buy right now, but hard to not trade in the GX now....
