I personally think we'll get a few years running with this car. They might even update the interior in year 3 or 4 which we might kick ourselves for not holding out for. Or, itll be really bad looking and we'll be glad we didn't wait. That happens too.

I would love to pick this up before the kill it off, but would rather not make the purchase in 2022 if I can avoid it.

I would also have to second a 3 year run for the IS500...'22, '23, and '24.
Somewhere it was mentioned the IS transitioning to the TNGA platform in 2024...assuming for the 2025 MY, which should bring a "new" IS...as this refresh is just a refresh of the 3IS, although be it a significant external "refresh".

They refreshed it to buy some time. I have read Akio Toyoda has been very unhappy with how the TNGA-L (GA-L) RWD based architecture turned out because of how much the platform weighs. The LCF was cancelled for the same reason as most likely it was getting close to 4700 - 4800 lbs in production trim. Lexus is making a brand new RWD architecture, which will be used for the IS and the RC replacement (whatever they end up calling it). That is why the current IS will be around till model year 2024.

It is reportedly a joint venture with Mazda to create the architecture for the RWD cars and twin turbo 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder power plants would be motivating them including the new F products.

My gut feeling the new IS (in MY 2025) will be amazing but while this gen is a heavier car and such, owning a piece of Lexus' great V8 will help me hold off until they get some of the initial kinks of the next IS. So my 2022 IS500 will be my baby until 2026/2027 or so, then will be handed over to someone who will get a pristine IS500 to enjoy
