Which would you pick? IS 500 F SPORT Performance or IS 500 Launch Edition
#61
True, normally aspirated V8s will have the interest of collectors. I will definitely keep the group informed as I learn more from my dealer. I also plan to do a custom audio install. I have been quite active in the mobile audio space and the IS offers a great platform for outstanding audio. I was planning to do a custom install in my current IS when the 500 was announced. So, a quick change of plans, LOL. My previous vehicle (a 2003 MB S500) was well known in the mobile audio industry and written about in numerous publications. I expect to surpass what I accomplished in that vehicle with what I will do in the IS500

Yeah, they are holding their value well. That one for $33K must have had a lot of miles on it.

I have a strong feeling there will be a premium package offered on the car seeing as the original red car they showed has a power tilt and telescoping wheel which is not offered on any level of the current IS line or any package either.

Because the IS 500 F SPORT Performance will be a smaller production allocation compared to IS 350, it should have the Premium package standard which is tilt/telescopic, heated steering wheel, memory seat/steering for the driver. Sadly, you cannot get memory seats on any 2021 IS 350 F SPORT or IS 300.

Ah good to know. Was hoping it wouldn't be an added on cost with the car being the range topper of the IS line. Really wish Lexus would just release pricing on the car at this point, its not like they don't know what they want the price to be at this point, with the TLX type s being low 50s and everyone already knowing what the MB and BMW competition costs Lexus could make a real splash and price it and have people that are interested but also cross shopping the c43 and m340 another reason to really look at the car. I am in the camp of I know I don't want another turbo car again or another Nissan/Infiniti product. Currently owning a 2016 q50 Red Sport and having a turbo blow out at just under 30k miles and having to have the belt replaced once already and having to have it be adjusted 2 other times in the 45k miles I have driven the car I am just over it. A Lexus NA v8 sedan immediately caught my attention and was exactly what I was wanting for my next car. I had started looking at used GS-F and IS-F but this fills the bill better for me as I wouldn't ever track the car. Flipside thank you for all the info you share with us its greatly appreciated a ton

They are still working things out...but you will hear about pricing before the launch this Fall. I'm guessing they way they priced the IS 350 F SPORT for 2021, I have high hopes for pricing on the IS 500 F SPORT Performance to be very competitive. I don't even consider TLX as a contender. No contest!

Me either Acura went safe and very conservative with the HP especially for how heavy that car is. It has its demographic but it is a vastly different one than the IS500, C43, M340 and even the RS400. All those vehicles have their customer base but it is a very wide ranging base from those that want to upgrade and tune the car to those that want a reliable powerful car that will last, I fall into that last one as I get older

Yeah that's a shame. The new TLX is a good looking car, but it's gotten too big and heavy. I was a fan of the TSX (Accord Euro-R) when it first came out. It was a good size and had the right features. The IS 350 F SPORT and IS 500 F SPORT Performance is at the right place at the right time.

Sure the Acura is heavy (probably 4200ish pounds) but the IS500 isn't light by any means at a curb weight of 3900 pounds. Although we don't have actual real world numbers yet, speculation is that both 0-60 times are 4.5 seconds. That said, reliability and quality are going to be the strong suits of the Lexus over the Acura.

I really liked the TSX too. Wish they would have kept it in the lineup.

Well, let's see what happens - I put my money where my mouth is and put down a deposit for an IS500 at a local Lexus dealer. No real concrete news for Canada regarding pricing, delivery dates and allocation but it's refundable so no real risk if Lexus absolutely goes insane (bad) with the pricing/option packages in Canada.
I would really like a couple of things to come over from the USA-spec IS350 F-sport models, and I'm hoping as a "top-of-the-line" model that the IS500 will get these in Canada:
1. The 360 camera, which is unavailable in Canada except for the IS300 non-F-Sport Luxury package models
2. The Mark Levinson stereo, again for some reason limited to the IS300 non F-Sport Luxury package.

I am one of those who is drawn to Lexus specifically for the IS500, but it's little things like these that are disheartening. As a person who frequently swaps cars with his spouse, memory seats is more than a nice to have. It is pretty much a requirement.
