Ernie Montano IS500 Launch #320, day I picked up car at NEWPORT LEXUS
[QUOTE=Welcome to CL;11177955]Members,
When you get your new 2022+ IS 500 F Sport Performance, please introduce yourself and your vehicle here!
Tell us some details about your new Lexus including:
Hello Club Lexus members.
I have in storage a 1998 GS400, and just bought an IS500 Launch Edition. Lucky to have completed a Lexus Performance School at Laguna Seca, riding shotgun with Scott Pruett on a hot lap in an IS500.
On Sunday I was driving on Beach Blvd in Buena Park, and came across about several Lexus cars (about 7 or 8) all very nice cars, and one GSF which had a Titanium Exhaust system and the sound was incredible.
- Model > 2022 IS500 Launch Edition #320
- Color >Incognito - Black interior
- Options -> Standard Options, no aftermarket but I like APEX Exhaust which Townsend Bell told me he bought for his IS500 Launch Edition #100
Below is a photo of when I picked up my car at NEWPORT LEXUS, which was transferred from Boston.

Photo of 1st car wash!
Thanks Tipsy for the quick and nice reception. While driving on Beach Blvd some lady passenger in an ISF filmed me while I drove up to them, and cool that the driver asked me what # my IS500 was (#320). I have raced off-road (Bronco and 2-seat VW 2180cc), and feel again that I am in a race car when I push my IS500 hard.

Congrats! Great looking IS and a nice story to boot.
I have to get a little teary-eyed reading your post. My very first Lexus experience took place on Beach Blvd. Took delivery of a new Glacier Frost IS250 from Westminster, and my first drive was down Beach to the beach. Then up PCH, back to the 405, to head home to Northridge. I was so excited, it was surreal. Each year annually, I'd make a one day trek back to Huntington and Newport Beach, just to relive the memory.

Welcome!! These cars are very special and I’m glad you were able to get one. 👍🏽

Great story as well! I wonder if there’s a thread on the CL site to share ‘My First Lexus’ stories. If not, I should create one!
OK good to know that we may be neighbors. I live in La Habra. I guess Beach Blvd is a LEXUS route. I restored my 1998 GS400 Lexus, and now have it in storage. After 250K miles still runs great but I did have close to $12K in repairs so it was time to buy a new LEXUS. Lucky that I found my IS500 Launch (#320) in March (Boston) which Newport Lexus shipped out to CA.
DLPTony,
Some people report I spent too much, but worth every dollar. I LOVE driving it and every time I press the pedal I LOVE the sound and feel of the Mighty V8 POWER.
For my birthday I went to the Lexus Performance Driving School in Laguna Seca which was awesome. Rode shotgun with Scott Pruett during a hot lap, and what a nice guy. Also met Townsend Bell (owns an IS500 #100) who suggested I upgrade to an APEX Exhaust System and I may.
When I turned off my VSC on my GS400 I could do burnouts as long as I wanted but in my IS500 after about 3-4 seconds my car just shuts down. I hope I can learn how to disable the VSC to allow me to do burnouts. Just to do this once in a while.
Hey all, new member here. This is me and my AS/white premium with the BBS wheels. Picked her up a few days ago. Took me 14 months and getting on 7 different lists, but I finally bought my dream car! Still can't believe it's mine!

Ultra Congrats and welcome!!! Haven’t seen your color combo before, it’s very cool! So glad you’re digging the car, it’s worth every penny.

Congrats Ernie! I just picked up my new-to-me 2022 IS500 a few days ago. Did a road trip back home and just returned. I absolutely LOVE this car. I have a 2020 Mustang GT that is modified for track use, and this Lexus keeps me equally satisfied, if not more. Amazing driving experience!!
For burnouts, I learned to NOT do the long 3-5 second hold on the traction control setting. Just press the button quickly one time, and you’re good to go.
I just texted it out earlier today - my wife wasn’t as enthusiastic as I was 🤣🤣🤣
