Interesting thread. A lot of Michelin PS fans I see. This many people swearing by them says a lot.
My IS500 has less than 400mi on it, so a LONG time before worrying about changing tires. But I will say after a 50 mile trip down some backroads (central Georgia), I wasn’t very impressed with these Potenza S001L’s. Even less impressed when it started raining!
That's what I'm worried about. It just so happens that last time I owned a rear wheel drive, v8 powered car, it too came equipped with summer tires... and it was not good... it was not good at all.
Virtually zero snow traction, which would be bad enough with that car on any tires. Slid down more than one incline... backwards. Thankfully, didn't hit anything on the way down. Could barely do 40mph in decent amount of rain. One time drove through a huge rain storm... I swear I had my life flash before my eyes more than once. Switching to Pirelli P6 Four Seasons made a huge difference.

Under no circumstances should you run summer tires year-round in PA. Good all-seasons are fine, or swap between summers and winters, but for the love of god don't run summers in PA winters. Pilot Sport AS and Conti DWS are both great options for performance all-seasons that can handle some snow.

Yeah, that's the plan. I don't need to relive that nightmare. Will likely swap out for PS A/S 4s in a few months. As someone else on this thread has said, I don't need to check the weather forecast to find out if I can drive today or not.
Just wish I had a better plan around what I intend to do with current set of tires. Seems like a waste to trash it but I never had any success selling used tires, like ever. Got 500 miles on them right now, I would be happy with $100 per tire. Maybe I'll try a post in the marketplace, but its probably full of posts from people trying to dump their summer tires.

There seems to be no option for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4s, but Lexus does offer summer version for about $500 over Tirerack. Lexus prices do seem to include install, so who knows what the actual tire prices are. Though, if that's what the mark up is for, those are some crazy install fees.
By the way, a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 is 1,139.96 on TireRack right now.

Not to mention, the Potenza S001L make ZERO sense to buy for that money. It is right in line with a Pilot Sport 4S, so one might as well buy the Michelin if one is willing to spend that kind of money.
They must buy their tires from the same place. I've been buying tires from TireRack since mid 90's so I'm good there. You do get 2 years of road hazard protection with their tires which I've used quite a bit on wife's car. Her wheels seem to always come equipped with nail magnets.
Now, I just need to find a decent local installer who wont mark up my black wheels.
I don't think you can unless you have bidirectional tires or you remove and swap the tires side to side.
I was thinking of doing this. You wouldn’t have to rotate the rear tires since it’s RWD. So it would just be the front tires. I can’t imagine it being cost prohibitive so to speak… maybe the tire shop or dealer would look at you funny… but if you consider you’d be throwing away tires that still had some tread left to give (notice I didn’t say throwing away good tires), it wouldn’t hurt to get a little more out of them.

I don't understand why you'd rotate the fronts and not the rears. Can you explain that part?
