No you won't need an alignment.

This is why I don't recommend the Potenza. It's not just your dealer - they are expensive everywhere.

OEM spec tires are often very expensive.

The oem tires have always been more expensive on my IS 350's. For whatever reason even the better Bridgestone tires are cheaper at the tire rack.

I was coming home from a trip today through the mountains and had this happen...
Cruise control set to 65
Downhill (so no throttle input)
Kinda curvy
Somewhat light rain

The cruise control rapidly slowed the car from 65 down to 60 and flashed a symbol I've never seen before after 10+ years with Lexus vehicles. I actually had to look it up when I got home. Apparently my car lost grip on the turn and flashed a slip indicator light and the cruise control reduced speed. I was confused at first, then the light popped up again!

I've made this same trip dozens on times in all types on weather. This is the first time I've ever had it happen. I turned off cruise control to get down the mountain and was fine.

Just wanted to share in the tire thread that the OEM tires are absolute garbage. I will survive Summer easily, but I will probably be swapping mine before Winter comes next year. Not even the Pilot Super Sports on my Corvette had this much trouble in the cold/rain.

Weird. First thought was that the ‘curve speed reduction’ setting might’ve been on but sounds like the warning light was different.

And ya the OEM tires are garbage.

It’s jarring when it happens, but thank God for Lexus’ safety system! It knew what was up, even when you didn’t. This is another reason why I’ll never turn off the ‘nannies’. Nanny my a$$! 😂

When the Michelins start to slip, that’s when it’s time to change them. Otherwise they’re solid.

I was telling my wife the same thing. The car detected slippage in the cold rain before I could and intervened to keep me on the road. The two turns where the light came on were the two sharpest corners in that downhill section so the rest of that section wasn't too bad.

I've had cruise control on going in both directions on that stretch, same speed, higher speed, lower speed... never had this happen before. It usually just cruises on by with no drama. Until I had the Poopstone tires... Amazes me Lexus used them with this car. They're even on my moms $91k LS 500! Her OEM Poopstone tires made it like 13k miles and we put Michelins on a couple months ago. The car is more smooth and quiet than it has ever been.

Not sure when/if this will become and option for us later this year but Michelin is releasing to OEM's the Pilot Sport S 5. It is the successor to the Pilot Sport 4 S. Lexus will be one of the OE's getting it. I'm curious on what car or when.

Finally! I saw the review for this tire a year ago. Hopefully it’ll be out when I’ve burned through my current 4S’.

There has been a Pilot Sport 5 that I had seen but this is the first I had seen about the Pilot Sport S 5. Hopefully it will be out when I am ready to dump the OEM Bridgestones. I'll hold off on the burnouts till then.

The Pilot Sport 5 isn't even fully available here yet, I don't believe at least. I hope the 5 S will be more readily available! If they'll survive in the 30s during Winter then I will buy those over the AS tires.

That's too cold for a summer tire.

This is the guy who mentioned the standard PS5 about a year ago. He just posted this one, I think his methodology is excellent!

Seems like it'll be a few years before the S5 is available for our cars.
