Here's me attempting to autocross an IS 500 in Molten Pearl at the Lexus Performance Driving School yesterday.

Right there with you, hence the one year’s worth of fretting to get mine. I do not want anything EV or Turbo’ed, I’ll skip over them to flying cars. 😜

The is500 is going to be my baby I want to hold on to. But if the new IS gets good MPG and looks good maybe it'll be a nice replacement for my Camry. :P

Ooooh…a second car scenario, that never occurred to me. Well, no one said you had to get rid of the ICE IS500! 😁

I thought the same, but how about that IS350 with the TTV6 dropped in that DSPORT did at SEMA? A full IS-F with 520-550HP TTV6 with a flat torque curve and newer, upgraded and uprated transmission? Could make for some fun.

A new IS with the TT V6 would be fine by me. Running on batteries, I'd pass.

I don’t know. From what I’ve seen, the only way to nullify the turbo-lag is the application of a mild hybrid. Basically a battery to step in until the turbo has spooled up. Batteries make me nervous with the spontaneous combustion and turbo lag is just annoying.

Turbo lag on modern cars is barely there if at all. Making huge torque on cars at 1500 rpm or so, you would not feel it. Having said that my Supra is 90's laggy but when it hits it's holy cow that's awesome time. So I don't mind some lag.

Unfortunately, turbo threshold is still a thing, even on a model from the normally-unassailable BMW...

They do a good job of masking or reducing turbo lag in basically every BMW I've driven, but I've yet to drive a true M car.

BMW has figured it out just fine without EV.

Peak torque and horsepower in our cars has to be more laggy than any turbo lol this V8 doesn't start making good power until 4-5k RPM.

My mom's LS 500 doesn't feel too laggy when you punch it. It doesn't like to downshift though. Using paddle shifters to hold gears and it runs pretty good. I wouldn't mind a TTV6, but I do like my V8. The TTV6 would have to be significantly faster.

I think all 3IS models have a sort of delay built in to the gas pedal. It was especially noticeable when I drove an LC this weekend, which had noticeably less delay right out of the gate. I think part of that is due to the new 10-speed, which seems a lot smarter than the 8-speed.

I wish Lexus could do something about the throttle lag, but I've heard Pedal Commander, Apexi Throttle Controller, or other similar products will do the job.

I thought they added a 48v mild hybrid to the 3 series G20s past 2020 MY to negate turbo lag. I also haven't driven an M car so I don't know about those ones, but in the same segment as the IS500, the C43 and m340 both I think added a splash of EV.

M340i, yes, but not the 330i.
Anyway.

I've noticed this too, The engine begs to be revved but the throttle input doesn't match what you would think the engine/transmission should be doing.
