I wish journalists would do a better job explaining what the product is. It's not that hard to understand, but so many journalists misrepresent the IS 500 as some sort of IS F successor or M3 competitor... It just isn't.

Many Youtubers I feel do a bad job of reviewing a product. I honestly do not understand how these cars go out to a bunch of dorks with a camera to make a video that is going to be of middling quality. Some manufacturers want echo chambers for their product is awesome and others seem to give their car to anyone. I only watch a handful of them. Watching some of these other ones out there because of the IS 500 has not added one youtube reviewer to my list from what I have already have.

I usually don't bother to comment because it feeds the algorithm and maybe they get paid a little more. I save my comments for the forums.

Another one where it was all over the place. While I generally liked the style of photography and editing, I disagreed with a lot of his takes. This is especially true for one of the last points he makes in the video, saying that the IS 350 would make for a more refined daily driver. While, in some ways, this is true, as it is a little quieter, overall, I don't think the IS 350 is any smoother to drive. Sure, it has less torque, so if you're lead-footed, you won't give your friends whiplash in the IS 350, but the engine in the IS 500 is inherently smoother. It has more cylinders. Moreover, you don't have to rev it as much in normal driving to keep up with traffic.

Exactly. It's the main reason why I can use eco mode. It has sufficient low end torque to get out of it's own way even short shifting like it does in eco. I never used it on my IS 350 as it felt like it needed more low end power in normal mode so I never ventured into eco mode on that car. I do wonder what gas mileage I would have on that car on a long highway trip.

Compared to the other chuckle-heads in the YT Universe, I thought he did a relatively good job! He understood Lexus’ ethos behind the car and that’s more than half the battle in my opinion. I gave him a slight correction, but this resident IS 500 Troll was denied the bones of man this day… 😜

Yeah, he loved it. I'll give him a pass on the same engine as the IS F line. That's a dead horse at this point.
