::heehee:: The both of them, which I think is cool because they aren’t taking themselves that seriously. 😜

Funny story, went for a small road trip last weekend. Kids in the back, wife in the passenger seat. I see her trying to fool with the touchpad to activate carplay. I just let her keep screwing with it and after some time I laughed and was like “you can just touch the screen…”
My eyes were on the road but I felt her stare.

Yep! Torque is king. If the IS 500 had more torque, obviously this would not even be a fight. Torque is your hole shot off the line and each shift. Of course you need HP. They work hand in hand and need each other. The camaro, mustang, charger and challenger are very balanced with torque and hp. I am sure this may be true with other brands as well, just do not follow their output numbers.

DSport Mag got 350 ft-lbs at 5,000 RPM at the wheels. I'd imagine this to be 400-410 ft-lbs at the crank.

This slightly-healthier RC F got over 410 WHP and 377 ft-lbs of wheel torque!

I know dynos are different, but still, I think we can conclude it's making AT LEAST the stock torque number. I mean, this engine makes 85% of its peak torque down at 3,000 RPM. It's not like it doesn't have torque - but it also noticeably "takes off" once you hit about 5,000 RPM.
An anecdote, my friend who drove it said it had "torque for days" at low RPM. He owns an F30 335i and an E46 M3, so those are what he is used to. The 335i has some torque, too...
What is likely hampering the IS 500 is the gearing - 2nd and third gear seem a little too tall IMO.

Do you think they can correct for the gear ratio? I have never heard of needing to do the test in 1:1 gears. It probably isn't possible on the IS 500 due to the speed limiter anyway.
