See joe z is all over it.
no light yet. 100km. Zoom zoom. Maybe to cold Canadian air helps. I do notice I difference in the tranny compared to my rcf. But it has great sound at more levels. The ride is smoother. So far so good

I agree - I created the specific thread to keep all CEL related issue in that one location - I am sure Dave (mod) will move it but to all IS 500 owners experiencing this problem, it would be extremely appreciated if we kept this very important topic in a single location for the benefit of all potential owners having the problem being to easily refer to the info Much appreciated in advance - This may help Lexus folks who occasionally lurk on here to see how widespread the issue truly is
sorry im not able to follow the forums like i used to.

Picked up my car today and the this dreaded CEL came on within 100km of driving. I was reading this thread yesterday and just hoping I would be able to avoid this issue.
Sounds like the exhaust gasket is the fix? Either way I was just wondering if this fix is worth it for someone who will get an aftermarket exhaust anyway?

^^ Sorry to ear about your woes - Lexus must be scratching their head and saying "What the hell happened here?!?!" Not the best "get out of the gate" for what was suppose to be an iconic car, but I'll say it again, the more problems get discovered, the quicker the repair will happen

Update!
Background: Bought my LE in Boise and drove it to Utah. At around 400 miles CEL came on and took it in. Exhaust gaskets replaced after a few days of waiting for parts. Drove it around without a couple days with no additional issues.
Today I drove it home to Wyoming and so far put on a total of 1000 miles with no additional issues. (Literally pulled in the garage with exactly 1000 miles. What are the odds?) Drove around town some more and so far so good.

So the CEL went away on its own for a bit. But then came back again after some hard driving.
So what a lot of people are experiencing from dealership might not be a fix, just the problem going away on its own for a little bit and then coming back again.
I don’t think the tech’s no exactly what’s going on here. We might need to give Lexus engineering some time to figure this one out. Seems like a software patch more than an exhaust gasket or leak issue.

They are starting the with cheapest fixes first, then working their way up.
