Default Joe z.

See joe z is all over it.

no light yet. 100km. Zoom zoom. Maybe to cold Canadian air helps. I do notice I difference in the tranny compared to my rcf. But it has great sound at more levels. The ride is smoother. So far so good

Picked up my car today and the this dreaded CEL came on within 100km of driving. I was reading this thread yesterday and just hoping I would be able to avoid this issue.

Sounds like the exhaust gasket is the fix? Either way I was just wondering if this fix is worth it for someone who will get an aftermarket exhaust anyway?

^^ Sorry to ear about your woes - Lexus must be scratching their head and saying "What the hell happened here?!?!" Not the best "get out of the gate" for what was suppose to be an iconic car, but I'll say it again, the more problems get discovered, the quicker the repair will happen

Default Update!

Background: Bought my LE in Boise and drove it to Utah. At around 400 miles CEL came on and took it in. Exhaust gaskets replaced after a few days of waiting for parts. Drove it around without a couple days with no additional issues.

Today I drove it home to Wyoming and so far put on a total of 1000 miles with no additional issues. (Literally pulled in the garage with exactly 1000 miles. What are the odds?) Drove around town some more and so far so good.

Welcome to the forum . Sorry to hear about this right from the get go . But I expect this is going to get resolved quickly as the case counts on this issue are piling up now North America wide . Did you get the Launch Edition or regular IS500 ?

So the CEL went away on its own for a bit. But then came back again after some hard driving.

So what a lot of people are experiencing from dealership might not be a fix, just the problem going away on its own for a little bit and then coming back again.

I don’t think the tech’s no exactly what’s going on here. We might need to give Lexus engineering some time to figure this one out. Seems like a software patch more than an exhaust gasket or leak issue.

Default Software

Can’t be software ? Can it. Wouldn’t everyone have a problem then. 300km no issue so far here in the cold north

At this point, I highly doubt it's software. Seems that since there isn't a definite source for the problem, there really is no common solution. Can be anything from faulty gaskets, to faulty O2 sensors, to inconsistencies in the assembly process for the exhaust (unlikely).

They are starting the with cheapest fixes first, then working their way up.

Probably not. Aftermarket exhaust will fix these issues. Maybe get the dealership to install the aftermarket exhaust free for the troubles. Aftermarket exhaust will free up ponies too as it'll get rid of the crushed section this car and all the F cars have. A must mod imo.

Vit, I've been thinking about this since these issues started. Would simply installing an aftermarket exhaust solve all this?

I'm surprised Lexus hasn't made a better gasket.
