My dealership is moving forward with replacing an O2 sensor.

Thanks for the update, but has anyone else had a sensor replaced that fixed the problem? I don't recall. Seems pretty clear that it's a fitment issue with the exhaust.

I'm trying to point them towards the gasket so that if they at least replace the gaskets at the same time, I can avoid having to go back and say "I told you so".

^^ That makes sense as very few people in Canada has experienced this so dealers may not know....But I feel the sensor detects the leak from the gaskets. So it's like swapping the smoke detectors because its chirping when the house is on fire (sort of analogy) but I could be wrong and maybe the sensors are the culprit but from what we have seen, it appears most have been gasket issues

That's more or less what I'm trying to explain. I suspect if they replace the sensor, the CEL is gonna come right back.

@AmbyBomb I would suggest they inspect for leaks before replacing the O2 sensor…

True the code P013A points to the O2 sensor but that does not appear to be the root cause for most if not all of these cars with the CEL.

The FSM - Factory Service Manual says the 2- OEM crush gaskets are a one time use..

If removed, they should be replaced..

Honestly not sure why they are not looking for or finding a leak first.

or maybe they did

See if you can arrange to speak to your advisor or master tech working on your vehicle..

Although we all want to believe in trusting the process, you want to be fully & well informed upfront.

They are apparently aware of the gasket concern, so they're gonna check that at the same time they replace the sensor.

To me, that means, they won't be replacing the gaskets this go around. I'm going to try and get my service manager to order the gaskets ahead of time. They probably cost $5 a piece.

The gaskets are apparently about $20 a piece, and not commonly stocked.

So today I let the car idle for about 20 minutes & noticed no CEL light. I drove the car last night for about 35 miles. At 780 miles the CEL came on then today at 815 miles no CEL. My appt to drop off the car at the Lexus dealer is on the 21st. But this time no CEL.. Maybe when putting miles on the car and breaking it in the CEL goes away.

The manifold flanges & gaskets expand and contract based on heat and ambient temperatures as well..

Once the leak begins to occur, if long enough it will trip the CEL..

Re alignment of flanges with new crush gaskets has been working thus far on fixing the ongoing CEL issues.

Hey Moonman, At what odometer reading did you first come across the CEL issue? Did the dealer previously fix the issue and this time its a reoccurrence of the same issue after the fix?
How long did the dealer take to fix this issue?

At 780 miles and no did not go to the dealership. I was planning on dropping off the car on the 21st but no CEL.
