O2 sensor has been replaced. By the sounds of it, Lexus Canada is now aware of the gasket issue and has given my dealership authority to replace that as well.

I can drive it around for a few hundred KMs before they ship it so they can see the CEL messages pop up (lol)

In all seriousness, mine is suppose to arrive in a couple of weeks but if teh deal goes through, I won't be picking it up until April so I am going to try and talk to my dealer and see if they can get an update from Lexus and see if they can proceed with replacing the gaskets before I have it shipped to my place. I have a back up plan too if they can't/won't....

You'd probably be one of the very few on the list to drive it, but no thanks! lol!

Just wanted to give an update, my CEL seems to have been resolved. Apparently, part of the exhaust was ever so slightly bent out of spec so the gasket wasn't making a full seal. They replaced the pipe on one side and that seems to have fixed the issue. Ive pushed it hard a few times for brief periods and unlike before i have not been able to replicate the issue.

@lexussingh

Do your mind sharing further work details as to what “pipe” was replaced on one side ??

I was starting to piece together that the exhaust gaskets are fine, but more likely a flange deformity of only a few millimeters that leaks only during expansion and compression of the gasket during heat cycles.

I am guessing potentially replaced entire LH manifold. But would love to see the work order if possible.

I was wondering when David was going to get the CEL, haha. Hopefully this guy gets Lexus' attention if they were sitting on their hands up to this point.

Hard to believe how many times this has happened now, yet I was the first (known) person to have this solved by my master tech. Boy that was a stressful weekend. I'll never forget it.

This may be a really dumb question, but say one were to buy a car in a different state than they live in... like a 500 mile trip. If the CEL comes on midway, would it still be safe to drive the rest of the way or would it be time for AAA to take it the rest of the way?

Annoying, but totally driveable.

The upside to this is that now Lexus Canada might become more aware of the issue for you Canadian peeps

It is good that this happened to David because he has great credibility within the Lexus/Toyota network in Canada and the fact he also acknowledge the fact that we have a dedicated thread on this forum was a good promotional plug for all of us

I’m from Michigan too and as I’ve always said.. other states FIX their roads, we drive on what’s left of ours

I shouldn’t laugh, because it’s a horrible indictment of our infrastructure. BUT….it was funny as hell! Had me laugh out loud first thing in the morning. 😂
