For my oil changes I will be going to my local Lexus dealer. However, I will be supplying my own oil either Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 Full Synthetic or Castrol Edge 5W-30 Full Synthetic.

what's the typical BS for this CEL? The dealer won't do **** but "read the CEL" at this appt Saturday, and I assume they won't have the gasket in stock. So they send people on their way and make you come back in a few weeks when the part comes to change it out? Sucks for us guys an hour or more away from the dealers. Hell I can read the code and tell em what to order

Unfortunately.. that not how the process works.

First diagnose, submit warranty work, order parts then come back for a 2nd round..

If the parts are on the shelf the process goes MUCH quicker..

If they issue an LSB, this would make the process WAY easier to order parts making sure they are in house after the owners make appointments for a repair that needs to be performed..

Has anyone paid for the gaskets online from out of pocket then go to their local lexus dealer?

I mean I guess you can.. But that’s not how the warranty process works..

Maybe you can have the parts dept do the special order of parts on them.. (not pay)..

Once they come to the dealership… Schedule your appointment and let the service advisor know and the tech assigned to the case that the parts are now “in house”

Disclosure - most dealerships make you pay upfront for special ordering parts not on their shelfs.

So good news and bad news from the service appt. Bad news is I cleared the code not knowing they actually needed it showing to turn in for the fix, even though it saves codes to memory (but I guess not data associated with the code?).

Good news is one of the techs found some kind of Lexus bulletin describing the problem and the fix, so the next appt should be straightforward.

One of them even commented that they've already had 3 of these with the same code already.

He's an hour away from a dealer, but it's not the dealer he buys from, but only does some services there (it's actually the dealer I got mine from). But aside from maybe an oil change, he doesn't even have time for other services, he's swapping cars like every 2 years! lol!

I dropped mine off yesterday at my local Lexus dealer (25 miles away). They gave me a NX Turbo as a loaner so I can't complain. They ordered 2 new exhaust Gaskets for my car.

Good luck with the repairs! Did you guys ever find out the car’s build date? I remember someone tried to tie the exhaust problem to build dates, but I don’t know if it was fruitful.

Default Cel at 65 miles

Showed up like this, i called dealer and scheduled appointment also asked that they look up this gasket issue thread we could preemptive order the parts. It worked. Parts ordered and arriving before my appointment. Should go smooth but will update if not. Build 12/21
