I do not know if any of your cars came with the transmission oil cooler installed from the factory. The unit that Savageese reviewed did come with the ATF cooler installed already. If not, may be those of us who are interested can come up with a list of part no. to get that done. It does not need to be OEM parts if any good alternatives are available aftermarket.
Now I was wondering if any of you guys see any major roadblocks to get an engine oil cooler installed as well? May be reuse some RCF or GSF parts? I would really appreciate some input about this.
PS: Would love to get a catch can installed as well. Are catch cans affective for these cars?
^^ It has been discussed on various tread and since the arrival of the first consumer unit, the 500 does NOT come with an transmission cooler and there are talks that there might be a dealer accessory available in the future.

But the accessory is for transmission oil cooling only right? What about the engine oil cooler?
Sorry I thought we covered this a few times ad nauseam??
The pre production units used for articles and test drives had the external ATF cooler.. for various reasons….
Here are my posts.. from your other threads..!!

Well it’s two completely different systems and design layouts integrated into the front bumper corners..

Does the bracket have space for just one cooler or both the transmission and engine oil cooler can be installed?

Supposedly Lexus will eventually offer it as a dealer installed option.. Besides the cooler, you need lines, additional ATF fluid & level set procedure and even a recalibration for Radar cruise control sensors after the front bumper is removed and reinstalled..
All Lexus had to do was just include the damn thing..!!
(same layout design as the IS F)
As far as an engine oil cooler, it does not have that either, as found on the RC F / GS F.

Thanks a lot for replying cause I am having a heard time finding these threads. So there is a oil cooler on either side? So the press car only had the transmission cooler installed? So in theory it would be possible to install both on either side?
No I realized that. But I am just wondering if the RCF or GSF coolers can be installed in the IS500 with little to no modification.
That's hard to say without a pre-production IS 500 and/or the trans cooler accessory on hand... But it sounds like it's at least designed to be fitted to the IS 500.
With the F cars, the coolers are mounted in a totally different spot, but maybe it'd work. Personally I would just wait for the Lexus-approved accessory.

I think any cooler can be installed with little modification. It's usually a couple bolts to mount and new lines. One hard part is if the car has holes pre-drilled or not.
Someone posted about getting the IS 500 track ready and the advice was given to track it and see if the trans overheats. If it does, then worry about the cooler. Maybe whatever you plan on doing with the car won't over heat the transmission and you'll be fine without a cooler.
Placing the coolers up in front of the radiator and ac condenser will certainly reduce the performance of both. Ideally, mounting them off to the side as is done with GS-F and RC-F, should be the goal… but more work.
If anyone is serious about an oil cooler for the engine, there is a bit of info in the following thread, both OEM and aftermarket parts are discussed.
