Ugh, let's hope this is not an endless repeating delay situation. They told me January a few weeks ago.

Reading the IS 500 Borla page: https://www.borla.com/2021-2023-lexu...xhaust-systems , I'm a little confused with the following info - "For those who want a bit more volume, we'll be offering an optional midpipe that replaces the stock resonators. Due to the single-piece design of the factory exhaust system, our optional mid-pipe will require cutting and welding."

The other midpipes on the market like Apexi or GTHaus don't require cutting and welding right? So why would Borla's require it? Hmm still undecided on full catback vs axleback, but I'd like a a reversible setup without cutting/welding needed.

it says it's a single piece mid, but I looks like they're referring to oem; not quite sure why it would require welding. apexi and gt Haus are not 1 piece...well, can't confirm about gt Haus, but apexi comes in 2 sections.

The others bolt on with flanges and gaskets. Maybe they went solid to avoid the exhaust gasket issue? Or some other kind of design choice.

I'm excited for this one. The drone has stopped me from every other system.

It's probably just a disclaimer. Borla won't make a whole one piece midpipe + axle back. Shipping the system would be $500+ lol.

Probably a midpipe and axle back, but will only sell the axle back or catback, no midpipe as a singular option, in my opinion.

Borla will likely keep the rear cats and have you cut some distance behind them. They do this to avoid smog/EPA issues. They do the same on 3rd Gen Tacomas which also have 4 converters.

according to the guy that got his 500 test fitted at Borla, he's on here too, it's bolt on, even for the optional mid-pipe, no welding required.

@Ay-nako able to weigh in on what cutting or welding means exactly with the borla exhaust?
