IS 500 aftermarket exhausts

Funny - I read your post right before mine and it sounded like could have written it. Similar to you... no drone but the booming that's at like 2,200-2,750rpms is a lot for me, and just as you say, that's right where the car shifts so you hear it a lot.

The apexi midpipe definitely has a deep tone, noticed rhe “booming” too. I swapped for the ppe x pipe and it is a bit higher pitched so got rid of it.

damn, good to know. I was still considering ppe mid pipes with resonators thinking it would not be as loud as your described. Welp.....axle back as it is then. Thanks.

Yeah Borla paired with non resonated will be super loud.
Thats why everyones getting a resonated Apexi paired with an aftermarket axle back. If they're staying stockish they'll just get a non-res midpipe and call it a day.

I must be the odd man out here lol. I specifically WANT it to be reasonably loud. I currently have the Borla axle-back (not yet installed), and am waiting and debating on whether to just get the Apexi non-resonated midpipe or wait for the Borla midpipe to be released and keep it consistent with brand. But I absolutely want it loud

How would you describe the sound level compared to stock? How is the cold start sound levels compared to stock, and how is it driving at rpms lower than 3kk, etc?
I'm debating on getting the resonated midpipe but I honestly don't want it noticeably louder while driving calmly, etc....
I also don't want to have to pay attention to my rpm to keep it somewhat quiet during commutes, etc. However I would like to hear more rumble/growl than stock..
FYI: I've listened to your videos, but I know in person is different.
Thanks

Getting yours and jororo's opinions on the midpipe only.
How would you describe the sound compared to stock? How is it during normal (calm) driving, and more spirited driving?
I would like to hear a little more rumble but don't want loud cold starts or getting a ton of attention from others.. especially when commuting, etc...
Thanks

^^ I hear what you are saying (no pun intended) - To me, as much I like the idea of a slightly more aggressive rumble, I would never buy an exhaust system based on feedback from owners or video clips as its not able to accurately replicate what I will hear/feel. If I know someone that has the Lexus V8 (GS F, RC F, IS 500) and the combo I am interested and can listen and experience it in the flesh, then that works for me otherwise, I am just not gutsy enough to take the plunge. I am aware that really reduces my chances of getting one but my OCD in me can't just take that risk and then regret what I purchased, especially given the cost to purchase and install (since I can't do it myself).

Agree with you100%... I would love to hear these in person...
I want more hp is really what I'm after... I know the midpipe is like 10hp-ish from what I have seen on the boards... honestly if I could keep it pretty dang close to stock sound a smidge more rumple that would be good for me...
and I know 10hp is probably not going to really feel much different than stock, but I cannot leave a performance car alone.. I always want to make minor upgrades as I can.. it's a disease really...
